Description
Thank you for (hopefully again) visiting the Vault_Obscura vault of too-cool vintage stuff. We offer quality items only to quality homes and require appropriate references from all prospective buyers; however, ownership of three or more Chet Baker albums on any label or just one Miles on Prestige will be considered acceptable.
***BY POPULAR DEMAND*** Some new images have been added to give complete view or 99% anyway. Note that the label photo was taken with the record in a plastic lined sleeve hence some glare at 5, 7 and 11 o'clock on the image.
For auction with no reserve, one copy Cornbread, by Lee Morgan. LP record album, Blue Note BST-84222, stereo. First pressing with Blue Note USA on label and 43 West 61st Street address on back cover. "Van Gelder" in typeface on inner groove.
Visually the vinyl looks Very Fine plus with no scratches, just some slight diminishing of the gloss and some sleeve contact spots. I have played this album on a sensitive NuMark turntable with some impressive cartridge or other. Side one plays clear with no audible background noise at all unless you listen very closely in between songs, side two has some persistent background static but improves with equalization. Basically side one plays Very Fine or better and side two plays Very Good, all I can guess is that whomever owned this album loved side two and played it a number of times while still taking great care with it. Jacket looks nice with some light wear and a little scuffing to the bottom spine at left corner.

The small portions of the cover which are not covered by these scans are not significantly different from the rest, and in the new scans added which are the second and third below, the worst looking corner is shown.
The top front is seen in the default photo and if you click "enlarge" you will also see it life-size on a typical monitor. If you want to know how to get life-size pictures then put address plus $5 in an envelope and leave behind third lamp-post along, beach boardwalk. (Hint: just increase resolution of your image.)
All records are guaranteed authentic and no bootlegs/counterfeits will ever be offered. Records are cleaned if necessary but no waxing or polishing agents are used. Any photos loaded here are the actual record you will receive; they are the best I could do.
Why should you choose this copy over others? Old and valuable items like coins, comic books or cards never turn up cheaply at yard sales or similar, but records do, and many of them end up in the hands of dealers who cannot grade them correctly. Grade scales which omit the Very Fine level tend to be inexact, in which event the same one or two grades get assigned to all records offered and it doesn't tell you much about any one of them. The record offered in this listing has been looked at very closely and graded very strictly, and in general anything from the sixties back listed as Very Fine or better will be as nice a copy as you will expect to find, and equivalent to what many others sell as "Excellent" or "Near Mint".
Grading of records: Most lower value records are graded by sight only and the surface noise description below is an approximation. Almost all older records play with some surface noise regardless of appearance. Grades may be qualified by a single plus (+) or minus (+).
Near Mint: Looks brand new.
Very Fine: Still close to new and only slightly used, a few faint marks or sleeve scratches.
Very Good: May have a number of light scratches but still nothing bad. Moderate surface static can generally be heard during the music.
Good: No awful scratches but will have a lot of them. Surface noise has overtaken the music but still plays thru OK.
Shipping/Handling:. See shipping section for current options, rates and handling time. USPS delivery times are not reliable and if you are not a patient person please do not buy anything.
Questions: Please include a current working direct email with any question. Items are not easily accessed and if it requires pulling one from stock I might not be able to get to it before the auction ends. Open-ended inquiries about details such as matrix number tend to be from users looking for a scarce variation. Don't ask me what I have, tell me what you will bid on.
