Description
Contemporary Records stereo S 7018, first pressing, with glossy black label, pressed in the US. Matrix numbers are LKS-35-D2 and LKS-36-D2.
"Art Pepper Meets the Rhytm Section", with Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones. See pics for complete personnel and program details.
Disc NM- a few very faint sleeve marks, no visible spindle wear, this was probably only played a time or two. Play-graded all the way through, plays nicely, with a bit of occasional light surface noise which further cleaning may improve. Jacket with early white stereo loog on the front VG+, spine neatly taped.
A nice copy of one of the most sought-after jazz albums.
Unlike some of their competing labels, Contemporary took great care when producing their stereo records, right from the start. This, like other early stereo issues has great, very dynamic sound, as good or better than the mono equivalent. I compared this to the SACD release, and the vinyl has a significantly more open and natural sound.
