More easily accessible (than Paul Rutherford), though still highly exploratory, is the work of Günter Christmann. What makes his work more accessible is that he is in the first instance a great dramatist; this establishes a more obvious connection with traditional instrumental approaches. Like Rutherford’s, his work is freely improvised, and he makes use of a wide range of new sound production techniques. He likely employs as many of these devices as Rutherford, but with a good deal less internal shading, and the purposes to which they are put are different. That is, Christmann tends to exacerbate the effects of any area of sound in which he works, utilizing contrast between these areas (with less fluctuation within) as a means toward a “climax” of one sort or another. Compared to Rutherford’s work, there is a greater sense of “development,” of forward movement, less sense of suspension of sound or whole areas of sound. But this is a matter of degree, for this would still be considered fairly abstract music compared too much of what is now accepted as “avant garde.” Special mention must be made of Christmann’s three solo pieces (on Remarks) which are far enough removed from any conventional instrumental sound that they might easily pass for electronic music.
Complementing Christmann most of the time is Detlef Schönenberg, and he shares equally in creating the music. He is an original player who flows with and moves in and out of Christmann’s work, functioning as a type of roving “orchestrator.” He uses an expanded drum set, though without a snare, and with the use of gongs and several wooden devices. His work has a heavy “bottom,” and he sets up a frenetic, tense underpinning (though often keeping a basic “beat”), using the cymbals for contrast and looseness (”swing”).
On Remarks, Christmann and Schönenberg are joined by Harald Boje (who has also played with Stockhausen) on synthesizer. He approaches his instrument rhythmically, for what it can add texturally and, if in so doing he doesn’t actualize a great deal of (what would seem to be) the potential for electronic instruments, he is sympathetic to the feel and flow of the music, and is able to contribute to it.
Christmann’s work is likely of greatest interest on these records, however; for it, along with Paul Rutherford’s, helps define the state of contemporary trombone.

Welcome to my auction of rare (and not so rare) items.  Over the coming years, you'll find lots of LPs, CDs, magazines, and other items that I've been lugging around for the past 30+ years.  I'm getting too old these days to move them around any longer, and to be quite honest about it, I can better utilize the space left by their vacancy.  Please include my seller ID in your favorites because if you dig the out-of-the-ordinary, chances are good that I'm selling something you may want to buy one day.

I've kept my items in the best shape possible over the years with plastic sleeves, and in many cases, replaced paper LP sleeves with high-quality rice sleeves.  If an LP included any sticker on the shrink-wrap, I usually cut it out and stuck it in with the LP sleeve.  I rarely took any inserts out of the jackets if they were included, so any poster you may get with an LP won't have thumbtack holes or taped corners.

I loved my music collection like they were a part of me, and I think you'll see this should you win any item.

I'm brutally honest in my grading.  I don't believe in "Mint" quality, however I will say that many of my LPs designated VG+ would likely be another seller's "Near Mint".  I used a Keith Monks LP cleaner during most of my days of ownership, along with an anti-static gun and mat, along with (near) audiophile cartridges and tonearms.

Why is my LP priced so low when another seller is charging a three-figure price for the same item?  Simple.  I believe in the spirit of the auction.  I may not make the money some have on the same item, but then I usually don't have to post an item 20 times before someone finally buys it.

My grading system:

EX: Vinyl is nearly perfect.  Only noise during play is from dust or dirt specks you didn't clean before playing.  Jacket is nearly perfect.

VG+: Obviously played, but vinyl still has luster.  Some small scuffs or light scratches not or barely affecting play are evident.  Jacket has some small scuffs or light ringwear.  No seam splits, but edge/corner wear is evident.  Possible small sticker or man-made mark visible.

VG: Played, but background noise produced by multiple plays is becoming evident.  Occasional light scratch may affect play, but no groove skipping.  Jacket may have a small notch/corner cut. Ring wear is evident, but does not affect cover notes.  Light corner bend or wrinkle in jacket surface.

VG-: This is usually the lowest grade I will sell without going into great descriptions.  A bit noisier than above.  Still no groove skip.  More scratches affecting play.  Jacket is definitely showing signs of wear.  Some seam splitting is evident.  Large sticker or factory imprint mars jacket cover or notes on back cover.  Bends or creases are more evident.  Man-made spotting/writing.  Over-ambitious notch/corner cut or outright damage to cover.

G: I have maybe a handful of albums that fit this category.  You'll see detailed descriptions on any album like this.
