Thanks for your interest. This is the real deal, folks, the rare of the rare in jazz circles. Charlie Parker #1: Dial 201, released in 1949. This is the first release in the Dial 'great sides of modern jazz - lp series'. Read below for detailed notes on the condition of this record, but I would rate the vinyl and jacket as very close to NM, which makes this all the more rare. Track Listing: Side 201-A: Listed as the Charlie Parker Septet, and featuring: Charlie Parker (alto); Lucky Thompson (tenor); Miles Davis (trumpet); Dodo Marmarosa (piano); Arvin Garrison (guitar); Vic McMillan (bass); and Roy Porter (drums): A Night In Tunisia; Yardbird Suite; Moose The Mooche; Ornithology. Side 201-B: Listed as the Charlie Parker Quintet, and featuring: Charlie Parker (alto); Howard McGhee (trumpet); Jimmy Bunn (piano); Bob Kesterson (bass); and Roy Porter (drums): Lover Man; Bebop; The Gypsy; Max Making Wax.
Vinyl: Flat and clean; no scratches; a couple of very small bubbles in vinyl that do not affect play. Minimal surface noise, most prevalent between tracks.
Record label: Fully intact; minor spindle wear, and some wear over inner groove, which you can see in the included photo of the record.
Jacket: Fully intact; slight age spotting. Charlie Parker and bird in a beret image with red background.

On Jul-30-08 at 18:47:47 PDT, seller added the following information:Further clarification based on a bidder comment posted on 7/30/08. The jacket for this release is similiar to other cardboard record jackets from this period. It's in essence a cardboard envelope, with the edlges folded over front to back. These make seams around the outer edges on the back. The seams are actually covered by another bit of paper which lists the Dial Records series at the time: 201- 206, with track listings and such.
