Melodyne editor 2.0

is the first Celemony product to offer the revolutionary Direct Note Access technology.
This makes possible what had previously been considered impossible: access to individual notes in polyphonic audio material. Melodyne editor lets you do things of which, until now, you could only dream.


Melodyne Studio 3

may not offer DNA Direct Note Access, but it does allow you to see and edit with the tried-and-tested Melodyne functions not just one but as many tracks as you like.
So you can create with extraordinary ease multi-voice arrangements from a source track with only one voice.

• Melodyne Studio has been the mainstay of professional pitch and time correction for several years. Celemony first rocked the industry by discarding the stiff controls of the other pitch correction programs and giving us time and pitch correction in a familiar piano roll format. Next, they refined their already powerful pitch correction engine to accommodate polyphonic audio, giving us dramatic time and tonal correction for rhythmical and polyphonic audio. Now, they've done it again with Melodyne Editor's Direct Note Access (DNA) technology, which lets you individually edit the notes within polyphonic audio. And you get both the powerful multitrack Melodyne Studio 3 and the ultra-versatile Melodyne Editor with Melodyne Studio Bundle.

• Through its unique pitch-shifting and time-stretching capabilities, Melodyne is the ideal tool for improving individual tracks. Simply take hold of a note, move it to the perfect pitch or position, optimize its length or alter the intensity of its vibrato. Such corrections are absolutely unnoticeable; the musical message is preserved, because Melodyne3 adapts the note transitions and phrasing intelligently. So there are neither jumps nor the notorious Cher effect unless you want it!

• With a few mouse-clicks, you can thicken your singing through doublings or allow a second voice to run with it at the octave. Melodyne can also provide slight random variations of pitch and timing so that it sounds natural. Harmonies are also incredibly easy to create, and since you can affect the formant of each voice separately without affecting the pitch, you can even take a single take of a single voice and create convincing virtual backup singers from it.

• With Melodyne's outstanding time stretching and pitch shifting, you can vary and correct your audio material unobtrusively with the very best sound quality - but you can also use these possibilities for extraordinary transformations and effects. You can, for example, stretch a note to such an extent that a short sound is transformed into a fascinating, minute-long sound continuum. Even with such extreme stretching, the starting transients are preserved and the sound remains soft and round.

• Melodyne can reproduce the melodies it detects via MIDI - retaining at the same time, pitch, dynamics, tempo and phrasing. Software instruments can be hosted directly in Melodyne and controlled using the Audio-to-MIDI function by Melodyne's audio tracks. The small u-he synthesizer Podolski is installed at the same time; so you can start immediately. You can also export the data generated with audio-to-MIDI as a MIDI file and edit it further in your sequencer; this opens many possibilities for creative arranging and sound design. Breathe new life into your synthesizers! In the other direction, almost all Melodyne parameters can be controlled remotely via MIDI and automated. You can use any MIDI controller you like for this; for particularly popular models, Melodyne comes with ready-made adaptations.

• With the Melodyne Studio Bundle, you get two different versions of Melodyne that share many of the same functions and the same basic working environment. Melodyne Studio 3 provides you with a powerful, multitrack environment that allows any type of audio material to profit from Melodyne's unique editing functions and algorithms. Melodyne Studio 3 can handle homophonic and polyphonic textures. Melodyne Studio 3 also offers fully automatic analysis of the audio material, powerful macros for the correction of intonation and timing errors, and numerous improvements in the user interface. So if you capture that once-in-a-lifetime guitar performance and then realize your 'B' string was loose, there's no need to worry — you can fix the slightly detuned notes and still retain the energy of that excellent take. Sound library reloaded
With Melodyne editor, much will change. Including your sound library, which will become virtually infinite in extent. Since you'll be able to alter at will the tempo, timing, rhythm, melody, harmony and tuning of your samples, adding or deleting notes as you please, you'll always have perfect samples to hand for the production you're working on. And as many variations as you wish.

Design the details
Access to the individual notes offers totally new freedom in sound design. You can, for example, alter the volume or formant spectrum of individual notes in order to give chords a different coloration and character. By copying and pasting, you can even swap sounds – replacing, for example, the piano sounds of a chord with marimba sounds, even if they were taken from a totally different chord.

No detours
Melodyne editor operates as a plug-in directly within your DAW. You hear all edits in the context of the other tracks of your project and can use as many instances as you like and your computer will allow. And for the fast editing of a sample between times, you can open Melodyne editor in stand-alone mode. Or via Rewire: making it possible to integrate it into DAWs that are not compatible with Melodyne editor.

Melodyne studio is the largest member of the Melodyne family. With this most powerful version you are no longer limited to the editing of monophonic melodies, but you can also handle complex textures and even polyphonic material, such as chords or song mixes!* Furthermore, Melodyne studio is a complete audio multi-tracker with an unlimited number of tracks and a high resolution of up to 32 bit and 192 kHz.

Recording artists and engineers have known about Melodyne for years. For a long time, though, it was only monophonic vocal and instrumental parts that could benefit from Melodyne’s much-admired editing algorithms: algorithms capable of everything from minor corrections of intonation to extreme pitch shifting and from the subtle modification of grooves to drastic time stretching.

Melodyne studio 3 introduces this magic to full chords and complex audio signals as well; so now harmonic material (such as rhythm guitar or piano parts) can be transposed (without altering the tempo), slowed down or sped up (without altering the pitch) and even quantized.* What’s more, all this can be done in real time with the highest sound quality for which Melodyne is famous. You might already know pitch shifting and time stretching from other programs, yet with Melodyne, even extreme alterations still sound natural and convincing. Although Melodyne studio is the perfect tool for correcting timing and intonation of audio recordings, it is also far more than just that. It is a full multi-track application which allows for complete song productions and creative arrangements. Melodyne studio offers you an unlimited number of audio tracks – depending on your computer system.

However, if you prefer to record in your familiar recording software (eg. ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Sonar and more), Melodyne studio supports a full integration, too. You have two options to link both applications: the ReWire protocol and Celemony's MelodyneBridge. For most production scenarios the MelodyneBridge is far more convenient to work with than a ReWire connection. Please see Celemony’s FAQ for details.

Melodyne studio 3 can read sample libraries created using Melodyne technology such as those of Ueberschall’s Liquid Instruments (from version 3.0) or the Melodyne Sound Libraries (from version 3.1), thereby obtaining access to an almost inexhaustible supply of licks and phrases.

Even if you are familiar with previous versions of Melodyne, you might want to consider an update to Melodyne studio 3 to benefit from the automatic and reliable note recognition or the Correct Pitch and Quantize Time macros, which allow the most common flaws in vocal and instrumental recordings to be removed with a few mouse clicks. With the Melody Manager you can comfortably browse audio files on your hard disk.
