on this EXTREMELY RARE 'FOLKLORE RECORDS' cat# F-LEUT/9
This is one astoundingly rare album, and what a marvelous find when it's in such fantastic shape!
Never a widely distributed issue, and probably just a little 'late' to catch the staunch blues enthusiasts who would have been going to the original gigs back in the early 1960's. So as a retrospective collection of the works of the late Cyril Davies, it begs the question "why wait" to release such excellent tracks if they were available all that time? The last issue pressed was a 10" in 1957, and I doubt that super-rarity stayed available into the sixties either.
So, four tracks (none of which get re-issued among these tracks) saw issue under Davies' name, and a couple of rare EP's containing the odd recording, to add to his collective 60's output on vinyl.
This LP became much more fulfilling then, for fans of this mercurial musician.
Alexis Korner was a catalyst for original blues, and it may be claimed that the music scene would NOT have been the same in Britain without his involvement.
Tangible? I'd say so, and challenge anyone to refute that!
Ever heard of The Rolling Stones? Aha, well they wouldn't have existed as that group, without Korner. Cream? Another band Korner 'spawned' and nurtured, through the 'Graham Bond ORGANization'.
Long John Baldry, who replaced Davies, and Rod Stewart who Baldry discovered and gave his first studio outing. You see, I'm allowed to name-drop, where Alexis Korner is concerned!
Fortunately, the late Alexis Korner is well represented on record, and issued many excellent works on album, as well as being instrumental in presenting other artists (such as Jimi Hendrix, on the BBC sessions)
Sadly, Alexis Korner is represented poorly nowadays, by someone
who is pleased to steal from, and lie to his eBay victims - selling and exchanging warped vinyl, keeping cash without sending items, 'trying' to embezzle an unsuspecting honest seller who had one-of-a-kind acetates....
avoid that bad 'lemonyade' it's enough to give anyone the 'Trots'.
Some can run on, duckin' and dodgin', for a long time.
This disc is in lovely condition! The vinyl is ASTOUNDING NEAR MINT.
There are no visible marks around the spindle-hole, The surface has full superb shine, NO scratches - practically AS NEW!!
The lables are spotless, super clean.
The cover is solid EX due to some slight lamination lifting
A TOP quality copy indeed!
