R&B from the Marquee with Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated

20 LP's THAT SHOOK THE WORLD - THE BRITISH R&B EXPLOSION
"In March 1962, Korner opened in the Ealing Jazz Club,opposite Ealing Broadway Station in West London, where the future leading lights of the British R &B movement, including Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Paul Jones, Long John Baldry and Eric Clapton, congregated to hear Blues Incorp-orated, featuring saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith, bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Charlie Watts, play Delta and urban Chicago blues.
The session proved popular enough that within weeks,the group had a Thursday night residency at the Marquee Jazz Club at 165 Oxford Street, and were signed to Decca to record an album for its budget label, Ace of Spades.
Davies growls and blows throughout - no fewer than four Muddy Waters songs plus a number of derivative Korner and Davies originals, while regular vocalist Long John Baldry was featured on three tracks, including Jimmy Witherspoon's 'Rain is such a lonesome sound'.
Produced by Jack Good. the Father of rock n' roll television (oh Boy, 6.5 Special) who also ran a column in Disc, it's a major pity that recording technology wasn't advanced enough to record the original Blues Incorporated at the Club itself, as these studio performances are curiously lifeless.
However in terms of being the FIRST British Blues album, R&B at the Marquee is culturally invaluable"
This is a copy of that rare 'invaluable' Album, it is mono on the Decca/Ace of Clubs label no ACL 1130 . I am new to selling vinyl on e bay but the sleeve is in good condition and the disc is good too. If you look very carefully under a light you can spot some superficial small scratches but not many and the record plays perfectly. The vinyl is still both bright and shiney
