MINT/M: THE RECORD IS IN BRAND NEW CONDITION WITH NO SURFACE MARKS, NO SPINDLE SCRATCHES TO THE LABEL OR DETERIORATION IN SOUND.THE SLEEVE AND ANY EXTRA ITEMS SUCH AS A BOOKLET, LYRIC INSERT OR POSTER SHOULD BE IN PERFECT CONDITION.

EXCELLENT/EX: THE RECORD SHOWS SOME SIGNS OF HAVING BEEN PLAYED BUT THERE IS MINIMUL DROP IN SOUND QUALITY AND MINIMUL SPINDLE SCRATCHES- THE SLEEVE MAY HAVE SLIGHT WEAR OR LIGHT SCUFFING ON THE EDGES.

VERY GOOD/VG: THE RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED MANY TIMES BUT THE SOUND QUALITY IS STILL VERY GOOD ALTHOUGH THERE MAY BE SIGNS OF SURFACE MARKS AND OCCASIONALLY LIGHT SCRATCHES, THERE SHOULD BE SOME SIGN OF SPINDLE SCRATCHES TO THE LABEL.GENERAL WEAR AND TEAR TO THE SLEEVE WITHOUT ANY NOTICABLE DEFECTS IS ACCEPTABLE.

GOOD/G: THE RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED SO MUCH THAT THE SOUND QUALITY HAS DETERIORATED,THE DISC WILL PROBABLY PLAY WITH A HISS OR DISTORTION AND WILL HAVE NOTICABLE SCRATCHES. THE SLEEVE WILL PROBABLY HAVE SPINE SPLITS, DOG EARING, SCUFFS, RINGWEAR OR CREASES.

FAIR/F: THE RECORD IS STILL JUST PLAYABLE WITH MANY SCRATCHES AND POOR SOUND QUALITY,THE DISC MAY JUMP OR HAVE OBVIOUS POPS AND CLICKS WHEN PLAYED.THE SLEEVE MAY BE TORN WITH SPINE SPLITS AND MUCH RINGWEAR OR CREASING.

AS A GENERAL RULE CD'S AND CASSETTES EITHER PLAY PERFECTLY - IN WHICH CASE THEY ARE MINT CONDITION - OR THEY DON'T , IN WHICH CASE THEIR VALUE IS MINIMUL. A CASSETTE TAPE IS LIABLE TO DETERIORATE WITH AGE , EVEN IF IT REMAINS UNPLAYED.

CD'S ARE DIFFICULT TO GRADE VISUALLY, THEY CAN LOOK PERFECT BUT ACTUALLY PLAY FAULTY, SOMETIMES THEY MAY APPEAR TO BE DAMAGED BUT STILL PLAY PERFECT.CASSETTE AND CD INLAYS AND BOOKLETS SHOULD BE GRADED IN THE SAME WAY AS RECORD COVERS AND SLEEVES. IN GENERAL THE PLASTIC CONTAINERS FOR CASSETTES AND JEWEL CASES FOR CD'S CAN EASILY BE REPLACEDIF THEY ARE BROKEN OR SCRATCHED, BUT CARD COVERS AND DIGIPAK STYLE CD'S AND SLIPCASES ARE SUBJECT TO THE SAME WEAR AND TEAR AS RECORD SLEEVES.
