!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! A few hundred (rumoured to be around the 300-350 mark) copies worldwide only!!! SOOOOOOOOOOO very rare!!!!!Dense multi layered Folk/Psych/Prog masterpiece!!!This has to be heard in its entirety to be appreciated!!This still has the often missing lyric sheet!!! 

In all my years this is only the second time (One other was a German version) I have come across this absolute STUNNER. The rarity of this LP is not to be underestimated!!! Most of these will now be tucked away in major collections across the four corners of the Earth. Only 300-350 are rumoured to be about. Rare ... anyone?? Sensational sound quality, although there are some detectable hairlines. There is some low level static to be heard at times, but most of the time this is easily masked by the heavy progressive rocksound. NO skips or jumps. NO clicks, this is really a stunning heavy vinyl .  Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled

Background Info:

The band was named after Comus, a masque by John Milton and is also from the name of the Greek god Comus. David Bowie appreciated them and used them as support band for a 1969 concert at London's Purcell Rooms.[1]

Their first album, First Utterance, appeared in 1971. The music is largely acoustic art rock that blends elements of Eastern percussion, early folk and animal-like vocals. The music evokes many feelings, but the most dominant are fear, confusion, despair, with occasional passages of tranquil beauty such as can be found in "The Herald". The lyrics are dramatic, involving violence, murder, and mental disorder. Apart from three tracks on First Utterance ("The Herald", "Diana" and "Bitten"), most of the songs were written by Roger Wootton and arranged by Glenn Goring. The group disbanded after this album, but they reunited with new members for their second album, which was to be their swansong, To Keep from Crying, in 1974. The magnificent Opeth were inspired by this album and named an album "My Arms, Your Hearse" after a lyric in one of the tracks. Later, on "Ghost Reveries" another track "The Baying of the Hounds" again from one of the lyrics, was named in Comus' honour. Opeth have also performed with a later incarnation of the band.

Vinyl: VG++. A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more in-depth observation. I am very glad to say that there are not any jumps or skips. This plays through in  its entirety!!!  There is only quite minimal  background noise mainly confined to the silent grooves between the tracks!! A credit to these early Dawn presses, which seem to be bombproof!!  Wonderful songcraft that is hard to compare to anything else, totally original!! Just listen to "Drip, drip" for a great sample of this album!! No wonder this album is now so sought after. I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!! Outstanding channelling, killer riffs, this is a legendary album.

Gatefold Sleeve: VG+. Great enigmatic sleeve with a "Gollumlike" monster preparing you for what's to come. Generally in nice shape without any undue writing or doodling, but the spine is well worn. there is a small tear to the back opening as shown in the pictures. Otherwise fine, no sticker tears , no grubby marks.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible!!! Although the gatefold sleeve has aforementioned wear, this is still a great and very collectable super album!! If you don't mind that you will buy into a piece of psych/prog core history. 

Inner lyric sheet: This is the ORIGINAL  lyric inner, NOT A COPY!!!! It has clearly been handled and has a tea stain on one side. But this is a rare relic in its own right which is mostly missing!!!
