A little about me: I have been on ebay for 12 years with my business (Whiplash Records - whiprecs). I've opened this account to start selling off items from my own personal collection.
Comus - First Utterance
Here we have one of the most sought after Folk albums, a true Acid Folk classic. A truly original and dark folk album that is totally original and in my mind never bettered. I'm only selling as i have finally found my final upgrade copy which cost me dear, but is worth every penny.
As many of you will know, this is a truly hard album to find in anything above vg condition, so few genuine near mint copies exist and they change hands for a lot of money.
I've had four of these through my hands, this was the third, which shows just how hard ex or better copies are to find. It's definitely not for the mint collectors out there, i'm afraid you're going to have to wait even longer.
Dawn (DNLS.3019)
The gatefold matt sleeve is in vg condition. general wear, some paper loss on the rear, worn edges and spine, discolouration. No splits, no writing. A solid but worn example.
The insert is in g condition, pretty worn, torn with tape repair and some small writing.
The record is in vg condition with some light scuffing, a few hairlines and one line at the beginning of side two that can be felt in two small areas. When looking in daylight the record could almost pass as excellent.
Under a strong light it looks vg+ but there is a line/mark at the beginning of side two that goes with the groove and slightly across it. This drops it to vg as two small parts of it can be felt.
Certainly not totally trashed.
Playback has been graded with a conical stylus and an elliptical stylus. The two feelable pats of the line just make a couple of clicks each and play through fine with both the conical stylus and elliptical stylus.
No jumps, no sticks. There is some low level crackle in the quieter parts and some pops and the odd light click.
Playback is best with the conical stylus, not too far from excellent. With the elliptical stylus its more of a vg to vg+.
In conclusion this is a vg copy all round, but the vinyl is not a trashed vg, its the two small fellable parts to the line/mark that keeps the grading lower than vg+.
