Commander Venus is the band that Tim Kasher and Conor Oberst got their feet wet with before they went on to become famous in Cursive and Bright Eyes respectively.  This album is infamous as the $15,000 album because it was recorded when the members were freshmen in high school and spent a ridiculous amount of time goofing around in the studio rather than budgeting their time wisely.
