C.Thornton got seriously interested in african music in 1968,he travelled to Algiers in 1969 and visited Cameroon,Nigeria,Ghana,Togo and Dahomey in 1970,he also performed in Tunisia in the same year.During a trip to the Caribbean in 1972 he focused on the evolutions of styles and interpretations of ancient West African music.The score for the “Gardens Of Harlem” was finished in 1972 but changed a bit after performing it at the JCOA work-in-progress workshops,the recording was finally made in 1974 in New York.Great spiritual/afro-jazz sometimes with a free-egde,cool grooves and fine soloists backed by awesome african rhythms.Pl. look for the rare unplayed Afro/Spiritualjazz-LP "Joe Malinga's Mandala/Tears For The Children Of Soweto" in my auctions,a rare swiss-only release ft. the late Cl.Thornton!

Condition:the record looks and plays “as new”,mint-.The cover,the OIS and the insert are “as new”,mint-.

Grading:this used record has been cleaned on a prof. cleaning machine.After that I playgraded it on a Rega Planar 9 with a Rega Super Elys moving magnet system and I also visually graded the record under a strong light.I give you a detailed description of both gradings.Only an unplayed record is mint,the highest grading for a used record is mint-! My basic gradings are:mint-ex-vg.As a free service,cleaned records are stored in a brandnew deluxe innersleeve and the cover will be placed in a brandnew PVC protection-sleeve!
