We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. SELDOM SEEN 'CLEAN' ~~ HIGHLY-sought ORIGINAL 1968 first pressing of the mighty 1st MAD RIVER ...

On many want lists, this 1968 original ...one of the greatest (and rarest on major label) San Francisco hippie-era psychedelic classics...on the rainbow Capitol label !

By the end of 1967 MAD RIVER had played a number of Fillmore and Avalon gigs and were signed to Capitol along with The Quicksilver Messenger Service and The Steve Miller Band. Their debut album was issued in 1968. Extremely uncommercial, and very psychedelic, it was particularly noteworthy for Lawrence Hammond's distinctive quavering vocals and some superb interweaving acid guitar work (particularly on The War Goes On and Eastern Light. It has later transpired that during its making the recording and playback speeds were not the same - so everything came out higher and faster than they had played it! Overall Mad River's first album features the dark side of the psychedelic experience, sounding like a soundtrack to a bad trip with its bleak, enigmatic lyrics, swirling, somewhat dissonant arrangements, and relentlessly minor melodies. The longer tracks feature rise and fall build ups with crashing acid guitar exchanges -- plus the hell-bent jerking tempos of "Merciful Monks" and "Amphetamine Gazelle," as well as the chilling closing lullaby "Hush Julian, " all still pack a punch !

CONDITION: The cover  The dark cover is solid, rated: M- top copy Very seldom ever found THIS clean! There is NO wear on the cover like almost every surviving copy has! Known as one of the most extremely wear prone covers. Back group cover is M- clean too (see photo)  This cover has no split seams, no writing, no fading, no bends...and only thing that detracts from a stone mint grading is a delete drill in center and label, otherwise a fantastic cover...

The vinyl is glossy over both sides, M- with exception of last track side one has one visible mark that was barely audible here ... M- audio the rest of side one and all of side two ......both rainbow labels are clean
