The timeless massive hit "House Of The Rising Sun" went straight to number one on the pop charts in 1964 and is still the most terrifying thing ever to hit the charts, with jangling guitars wailing like the ghosts of wronged children and Eric Burdon's vocals choking down wave after wave of panic (spiritual, sexual, and moral) and channeling ugly, vindictive pain.
The Animals were part of the budding, homegrown U.K. blues scene of the early Sixties and one of the most noteworthy bands of the British Invasion. Formed in Newcastle-on-Tyne, a port city and coal-mining hub in northeast England, the Animals reflected their upbringing with rowdy, brawling, blues-based rock and roll. The group derived its inspiration - and much of its early repertoire - from American blues and R&B sources, adapting them to their native British working-class sensibility. Eric Burdon was among the best white R&B singers of the Sixties. His gruff, soulful vocals brought out the anguish in such anthems as “It’s My Life” and “We Gotta Get Out of This Place.” The band’s sound was also heavily defined by Alan Price’s organ playing, which provided dramatic accents and a blues-jazz atmosphere. The other founding members - guitarist Hilton Valentine, bassist Chas Chandler and drummer John Steel – balanced Burdon’s earthiness and Price’s melodic finesse.
The vocals throughout the album are more then strong, all of the emphasis is placed correctly, and the style has been bent just enough to make these renditions as fresh, powerful, and moving as anything you could hope to encounter. It’s hard to believe that The Animals were ever so young, or would ever change the musical landscape in the manner they did.
The first album was released a month ahead of the British debut, it has seven of the 12 tracks of this album plus both sides of their first two singles ("Baby Let Me Take You Home" / "Gonna Send You Back to Walker" and "House of the Rising Sun" / "Talkin' 'Bout You") and one more B-side, "Blue Feeling" (flip of "Boom Boom"). If you look at the tracklist, you can easily make out the Animals' heroes, with classic R&B and rock and rollers up and down both sides.

CONDITION: The cover is outstanding, M-, clean, no delete drills, no split seams, no bends and no writing -- all stiff and sound, display looks!
The vinyl is all glossy clean, both sides, at worse has some very small hard to see inner sleeve paper scuffs, visual VG++ to "EX" (excellent) nothing significant a problem, playing top level enjoyably smooth....
