CHRIS CLARK – “C.C. Rides Again” (1969) Weed-801 rare original pressing VG+/M- (cov/rec)

Wow, here’s a cool and sought after piece that doesn’t turn up often! Chris Clark was a very soulful white female singer who was one of the first non-African American artists to record for Motown, releasing an rare LP on the label in the mid-60s. On this very obscure album, she’s never referred to by name – only as “C.C.” Se fronts an orchestrated/arranged studio group that cuts some funky stuff like covers of “Spinning Wheel” (breaks), “C.C. Rider,” “Good Morning Starshine,” “With a Little Help From My Friends,” “One,” “In the Ghetto,” “Can I See You in the Morning,” “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” and “Get Back.”

This album is somewhat legendary as it’s the only release on the label, which is a Motown subsidiary. At the top of the label it reads, “Your Favorite Artists Are on Weed.” Very groovy!

This is an original copy. The gatefold cover has some light wear, a drill hole in the front left corner, and a 4-inch seam split at the top seam from jacket opening inward. The non-record holding side of the gatefold is also split open along the side where the record goes. However, despite these defects, it’s still a pretty decent cover. The vinyl is beautiful. I grade this VG+/M- (cov/rec).

I will quote overseas postage when overseas winning bidder specifies air/surface mail – a good guideline is $7 for a single LP by surface mail and $12 for a single LP by airmail.

I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!
