Description
CHILE WILKERSON -- Opus One -- rare, original 1972 U.S. album. Now here's another total obscurity from the Private Press bins: this is a very good and apparently completely unknown Downer Singer-Songwriter album with an introspective, dreamy Laurel Canyon bedsitter vibe ala James Taylor, Paul Williams etc.. Whoever he was this guy had some real talent as a songwriter, aided by the spare vocals + guitar and piano production: tracks like "She's Gone Away to Memphis," "Do You Understand What I'm Saying?" and "Oh, How I Love You" could easily have been early 1970s radio hits if covered by someone like Linda Ronstadt. There's absolutely no info on this record or artist out there anywhere, and it's the only copy I've ever come across. Cover: VG- / VG, stains along left front and bottom edge on front / back; ring wear; removable price sticker at upper right front. (Note that, oddly, there was a dedication originally on the bottom right front that was apparently blacked out at the record plant when the cover was printed -- bizarre!) Record: VG++/VG+++, very light surface wear from storage in sleeve, U.S. press, stereo.
