CHICAGO SLIM BLUES BAND:   10" Acetate Test Pressing - ONE ROOM COUNTRY SHACK, LOOK OVER YONDERS WALL, KEYS TO THE IGHWAY, and ROCK ME -  This is one very unique One-Of-A-Kind item from the late, great CHICAGO SLIM.  There aren't many records out there by CHICAGO SLIM.  There is no date on this, but two songs (ROCK ME and KEY TO THE HIGHWAY) appeared on the 1969 Capitol LP, SCUFFLIN' WITH STU RAMSAY AND CHICAGO SLIM.  So that could date this Acetate around 1969 or 1970, but I really don't know.  It sound like a rough one-take Reference recording, and is probably the only copy in the world.  I found this at a Salvation Army store around 10 years ago and have always wondered how it got there...  There is light scuffing since it was played a lot, but the overall condition is Good.  There is a dent in the Disc, at the end of LOOK OVER YONDER WALL , which causes skips.  It's futher into the song on the other side, ROCK ME.  I would say it appears at the spot which is around 75% through the song (which jeopardizes the final 25% of ROCK ME).  It doesn't look like any grooves are broken on either side, so if you put a slightly heavier tone arm down on this it might play all the way through.  This Disc was certainly very, very well made.  The overall Sound Quality is around Good;  there is a lot of background noise, but decent fidelity.  In a way, it sounds like a 78, which is fitting for Chicago Slim.  You can listen for yourself.  It probably could be cleaned up with the right Tone Arm and Needle.  I've posted some Audio Clips from this at: www.gate.net/~rhanes/chicagoslimace.wma  - If you click onto this hyperlink, you can download them as WINDOWS MEDIA AUDIO Files and listen for yourself.
