CHAPTER FIVE
SIDE A
ANYTHING THAT YOU DO
SIDE B
YOU CAN'T MEAN IT
YEAR: 1966
RECORD LABEL: CBS RECORDS
CAT: 202395
MATRIX: A55521 / A55531
OUTER SLEEVE: Plain outer sleeve is in fair condition with some creasing and a tear, will also be supplied with a plain sleeve in brand new condition.
INNER SLEEVE: No inner sleeve.
ARTWORK: No additional artwork.
LABELS: Labels are in excellent condition, with no spindles traces, writing, stickers etc...
VINYL: Original UK advance promotional pressing. Vinyl is in excellent condition with just a few very light surface marks visible when held under a very, very strong light. Nice bright sheen that plays through with some very light surface noise in places but this is very minimal indeed with no jumps, ticks etc... Both sides but particularly the Bside sound to have been recorded at quite some volume but this little distracted during the very, very careful play grade on high end turntable prior to listing. In 1961 CBS ended an arrangement they had with Philips for pressing/distribution and formed CBS records to release Columbia recordings outside of the US.
Columbia developed a process to recreate stereo from mono called 'Electronically Rechannelled For Stereo'. I am 99% sure that due to the sound and the fact that there is no indication of such on the label (the usual giveaway) that this is the original mono recording and therefore the most favoured pressing.
I will just add a sentiment that any serious collector will understand, it gives me no pleasure in selling this valuable record as it took me 20 years to find this copy a few years back and cost a fortune then!! However, financial troubles mean that something from the huge collection must go. So folks don't miss a uber rare opportunity to own an original (not the Souls Sounds re-issue!!) piece of Northern Soul vinyl gold history!!
CHAPTER FIVE: A brief history and line up: Formed 1964 in Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria, UK. The original line-up was, Dave McGerty ~ Keyboards, Allan Davies ~ Guitar, Frank Hayes ~ bass, Tony Flanagan ~ Drums, Dave Roberts ~ Tenor Sax, Bruce Martin ~ Trumpet, Lou Mickleback ~ Barritone Sax, Bob Atkinson ~ Vocals. Shortly after this initial line-up vocals were taken over by John Ritson.
The band turned professional in 1966 and toured Germany that year. As musical tastes changed and the beat became for frantic in the early 70's Northern Soul records like this (and the dance moves) inspired disco and later still even breaks/breakbeat!!
WHY NOT CHECK OUT MY OTHER MUSIC / VINYL LISTINGS!!
I am an avid collector of vinyl and cd's (and have been for a number of years) of all genres and appreciate how important accurate grading is. I have therefore used the Record Collector grading system, although you may note the use of + and - for those that fall safely inbetween.
All vinyl will be sensibly packaged using corrugated mailers / stiffener to ensure its safe arrival. All items sent Royal Mail First Class within 48hrs, often the same day. Due to Royal Mail changing prices and terms yet again I would suggest to any buyer that items selling for more than £20 are sent with insurance, it is important that the buyer understands that if no insurance is added I cannot except any responsibility for missing items. This is simply due to Royal Mail excepting no liability. I will always combine postage / shipping on multiple purchases where possible.
POSTAGE / SHIPPING (fully insured up to £1000)
UK = £10.00 Royal Mail (special delivery).
EUROPE = £75.00 Royal Mail (global priority).
REST OF THE WORLD = £85.00 Royal Mail (global priority).
TERMS:
All payments are to be made within 72 HOURS of auction end unless agreed otherwise via email, if you do not contact me you may risk losing the item. If you intend to bid on another of my items and therefore want combined postage but the second item is outside of the 72hr payment window PLEASE contact me to let me know. If I receive no requests or contact a case will be opened and buyer probably blocked. If you really want the record then feel free to bid, thank you for your time reading this.
I aim to keep buyers informed at all times throughout the bidding/buying process. On some rare occasions I find myself working away from home causing a slight delay, if this is the case I go to every extent to make the buyer aware. If in the very unlikely event that you should be unhappy with your item please contact me and I will do my best to resolve any issue, leaving negative feedback benefits neither buyer or seller. I am a collector NOT a dealer and as such you can expect all items to be handled with great care/respect and (I hope) a human touch to the transaction. Please see my positive feedback for assurance and don't forget to check out my other items. Feedback is ONLY left upon receipt of the same thus informing me of the items safe arrival. It seems that over the years more buyers simply don't bother leaving feedback, I very much appreciate the time taken by previous buyers to leave feedback and help create the friendly atmosphere we all enjoy about good Ebaying.
If you would like more info feel free to email.
Thanks again for looking and good luck should you decide to bid!!
