CBS S64271: RAY RUSSELL 'Rites And Rituals'

UK jazz rarity from 1971, the album by this guitarist, working at the interesection of avant-garde jazz and rock, that many people think is his best. This is a sextet date with Russell (g), Harry beckett (tp), Nick Evans (tb), Tony Roberts (ts), Daryl Runswick (el-b) and Alan Ruston (d). It was recorded at sessions during August 1970. This is an UK 1st CBS stereo pressing with orange/black printing label. As far as I know there was no mono issue of this disc.

CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: The disc is E+toN- (VG++toM-) with one or two very light scratches only, visible under a bright 'grading' light. The cover is E- (VG), with minor surface scratching and surface/edge rubbing, slight corner damage and a small amount of slight residue from a sticky label in the top left hand corner. There are also two promo stickers on the front together with a large area where the surface lamination of the cover is missing (see photo).
