Mint means perfect, so the best example of a mint record is a record that is still sealed. This is still sealed, it is brand new, it has never been opened.
Near mint means it's been played but it's still in perfect condition.You'll often see those refer to as NM or occasionally also as M with a minus sign.There's no scratches, there's nothing that would ever effect the listening.
Very Good, it's referred to as VG+. (VG+) record could have negligible surface marks, it could have some scuffs, it could have some slight warps, but as long as it doesn't affect the listening. VG+ is actually quite a bit better than Very Good (VG).
