Conditions : cover shows a little brown spot on the right upper part of the front and some moderate wear around the corners, EX+ / disc is in gorgeous shape, just a few minimal cosmetic rubs, NEAR MINT

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a turntable Rega Planar 3 with a moving magnet cartridge Grado Statement 1. I listen EPs and singles 45  rpm. on a turntable Thorens TD 166 BC with a MM cartridge Goldring 1006. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : musiche di Carlo Rustichelli, orchestra diretta da Bruno Nicolai. Film amaro come le sue belle musiche. Due i sono I temi principali caratterizzanti la colonna sonora. Essi hanno alcune riprese nell'album con variazioni d'arrangiamento e un contenuto ora soltanto malinconico ora fortemente drammatico. Il primo tema si trova in " Il Viaggio in Italia " (a1), il valzer con cui si apre il film. Di grande personalità per la sua ammirevole costruzione, per l'uso di una vigorosa sezione ritmica e per le sue belle atmosfere dai significati agrodolci. Il secondo è formato da tre brevi note suonate nell'album per la prima volta in " L'Arresto " (a2). E' un brevissimo stacchetto musicale che ha metaforicamente la stessa funzione della campanella scolastica del mattino : quando suona, tutti dentro ! Qui per davvero. E' utilizzato in molte tracce suonato da altri strumenti come l'organo, il basso, ecc., ecc. e indica un contenuto di carattere angoscioso o drammatico. Forte malinconia nel valzer, dramma in quella sorta di segnale d'allarme appena citato, quale allegria ? Non ci può essere nella colonna sonora per un film che parla di storie di galera. Rustichelli è molto bravo e la musica da lui composta per questo film, a mio avviso, è da considerarsi una delle sue migliori partiture. Direi la sua colonna sonora più vicina alle concezioni stilistiche di Morricone. Infine ritengo giusto menzionare la magnifica direzione orchestrale di Bruno Nicolai. 

Notes : music Carlo Rustichelli, orchestra Bruno Nicolai. A bitter film as its beautiful music. There are two main themes characterizing the soundtrack. They are repeated  throughout the album with some variation of arrangement and both melancholic and highly dramatic atmospheres. The first theme is in " Il Viaggio in Italia " (a1), the waltz which opens the film. It has great personality due to its admirable structure, the use of a strong rhythm section and its beautiful atmosphere from the bittersweet significances. The second theme consists of three short notes played by the violin for the first time in " L'Arresto " (a2). It's a very short musical break which has metaphorically the same function as the school bell in the morning: when it rings, all in ! Here for real. It is used in many tracks played by other instruments such as the organ, bass, etc., etc., and indicates a painful or dramatic content. Great melancholy in the waltz, drama in that kind of alarm signal just above-mentioned, I do not think that this is really something we should welcome. There can not be joy on a soundtrack devoted to a film narrating stories of jail. Rustichelli is very gifted and his music, in my opinion, is to be considered one of his best soundtracks. I would say his score closer to Morricone's stylistic conceptions. Finally I believe is right to mention the magnificent conductorship by Bruno Nicolai.

Film drammatico e atto di denuncia sull'arretratezza del sistema giudiziario e carcerario in Italia che valse a Sordi l'Orso d'Oro al Festival di Berlino. Prodotto da Gianni Hecht Lucari e diretto da Nanni Loy. Oltre  a Sordi il cast comprende Elga Andersen, Michele Gammino, Lino Banfi e Mario Pisu.
