Extremely rare psych-folk privately pressed rarity from Massachusetts! ***ORIGINAL PRESSING**** Carl Hakansson "Candles Glow" on Y-Knot Records (BMC 5144). Record is in very strong VG++/EX condition, sleeve is in VG condition with some seem splitting on the top and very, very slight ring-wear. Comes with an original paper lyric insert (around 8x11", beige paper, VG+++)...sleeve is still partially wrapped in its original shrink.

B5) You Are Near

Here is a write-up on this obscurity:
"Completely obscure private press from central Massachusetts, late seventies or 1980. This is the same little corner of the world where Bobb Trimble made two of the best psych records ever, also around 1980. This album's not as out-there as Bobb's, but it's completely unknown as far as I can tell and several tracks have got a nice rural psych feel with great garagey guitar work from Richard Thyng, as evidenced on "Morning Bird". Neil Young's definitely an influence here, and the rest of the record is a lot mellower, with a few solo downer-folk numbers by Carl Hakansson and one really spooky and somber kind of chanted mantra a cappella track "Alone They Ride", credited to The Thyng-Hakansson Chorus."

Grading: (SS) Still Sealed; (NM) Near Mint: Looks and sounds absolutely perfect...no visible or audible scratches of any kind; (Excellent) Looks almost perfect...there might be the smallest and most insignificant scuff mark, but barely visible. Sounds perfect...no dust pops, scratches or any audible interferance of any kind with the sound. The slightest distortion on open grooves well before song starts is acceptable, though uncommon. (VG) Looks and sounds great. There may be some visible scuffs and scratches, but nothing that affects play. Audibly, there may be some sound distortion on open grooves before music starts, but absolutely nothing that is noticable over the music.
