ULTRA RARE ORIGINAL 1970 UK UNITED ARTISTS 1st PRESSING 7-TRACK VINYL LP WITH FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE
One of the more elusive CAN albums as an ORIGINAL 1970 UK 1st PRESS!!
In the late 60's, even within the progressive krautrock genre, CAN only had limited appeal and were far too experimental and challenging for many. Now highly sought-after and in high demand - and so they shoud be - original CAN albums are amongst the very best progressive albums ever issued. This copy is one of the first ever pressed confirmed by the matrixes, mothers and stampers as shown.
Still for me, the greatest of the 'Krautrock' pioneers, an affectionate term for German progressive rock from the late 60s and early 70s. The cover states this is the second Can album but not number two. I suppose that means this record was composed specially for movie themes. This is another remarkable work to follow the legendary 'Monster Movie' debut and another captivating classic. The main theme is the lengthy 'Mother Sky' clocking in at 14.5 minutes, a mastertrack and one of the greatest of the genre, featuring Damo Suzuki on vocals and one of their finest ever tracks. Czukay’s basslines on this track are sublime with a beautiful rich 'twang' and the splintering electric guitar of the late, great Michael Karoli were rarely better and the usual intensity is maintained throughout. But there is not a bad (Sound)track on this brilliant album, it features their most famous line-up, also original vocalist Malcolm Mooney on two songs, they simply never made a bad album - never be put off by this album’s title, this is pure vintage Can sounding brilliant and groundbreaking as all their other UA albums were. This was recorded between November 1969 and August 1970 at the Inner Space Studios. A remarkable band and set, their influence is still strongly felt even today, any fan of this legendary band will love this album and copy - its a real beauty and one of the earliest ever pressed and issued and, importantly, it plays excellently throughout.
This incredible album comprises of recordings made between November 1969 and August 1970, which were used as part of various obscure movie soundtracks ('Deadlock', 'Cream', 'Madchen mit Gewalt', 'Deep End' and 'Bottom'); this LP also documents the transition from Can's psychedelia-inspired jams of their first recordings to the more meditative, electronic, and experimental mode of the studio albums that followed, featuring original vocalist Malcolm Mooney on 2 cuts, the rest handled by Damo Suzuki.
A TRUE CLASSIC - DON'T MISS IT!

(A great original UK first pressing which retains its full gloss and sheen. Both sides of the disc have only very light signs of use ...... no nasty marks, just a few light wispy surface hairlines evident beneath a strong light ...... excellent sound quality throughout, with only sporadic surface presence : Graded in EXCELLENT condition. The record delivers excellent audio throughout with clear sound clarity. Any surface marks are very fine and faint, seen under angled light. Visually a super record that should please most collectors. Any surface or unwanted sounds are minimal indeed and this offers a lovely performance of this classic krautrock album. This excellent original UK 1st pressing will prove difficult to find significantly better)
Labels: Mint-
(Original cream and brown U/A labels are very clean and attractive with only light and fine spindle traces)
LP Sleeve: EX
(A single format with a laminated front that wraps around the spine and on to the back for about quarter-of-an-inch and of course, includes the original artwork. For some reason, the reissuses and CD versions included different graphics and the celloloid original graphic seems to be exclusive to the early vinyl originals. Printed and made in England. The front has lovely fresh and clear laminate that is very solid with no lifting or blisters. There are two small scuffs near the open out edge and one very tiny bump near the spine. The corners are all pretty sharp. All text on the spine is fully legible and unworn under the solid and unpeeled laminate. The back is predominately white and few will avoid some grubbiness or marks. There is a little age discoloration to the back cover but this is minimal with a few ageing spots, a couple of small creases near the two lower corners and a light record impression near the top. A strong all round example of this elusive early 70’s original UK cover, one that will prove very difficult to find significantly better. This attractive item should please many collectors and always great to see the original artwork)
CAN
Holger Czukay: bass
Michael Karoli: guitar
Jaki Liebezeit: drums
Irmin Schmidt: keyboards
Damo Suzuki: vocals
Malcolm Mooney: vocals
