Up for auction is a rare Bruce Springsteen promo 7”. Released in 1973 on Columbia Records as Playback 7”, 33rpm Not For Sale copy of “Circus Song”. Reportedly this was recorded live at the Ahmanson Theatre. This version is an acoustic number with guitar and tuba with rough vocals.

The “Playback” series was a monthly issue which usually featured four bands on the early 70’s Columbia Records label roster. This issue is #52 and also has Loudon Wainright III, Taj Mahal and Albert Hammond featured. Incredible NEAR MINT to MINT MINUS shape of vinyl record. Center label looks near new and perfect. Clean, bright colored. Center hole is perfect and looks new. Vinyl has new looking high gloss and looks basically new. Plays loud, clear, crisp and clean. A very nice copy of this rare live recording.

Plus this copy comes with most of it’s original contents. Meaning, this copy has it’s outer “Playback” mailer, inner 16 page booklet, “Playback” record sleeve and cardboard mailing insert. As I have a few other copies of different Playback releases, the only thing missing would be the pre-paid postage questionnaire form or insert which asked questions  regarding your interest of the current month’s release. The overall condition of the extra’s are as follows.

Outer mailer envelope has light creases around the outside area. The side has been cut in order to remove record and inserts, saving the top opening from any damage. Has an address from Kirkland, WA. which is near Seattle. Cover looks clean and is bright colored. Grades VG to VG+ due to light wrinkles.

16 page booklet has a few light wrinkles or creases. A light dent in bottom corner, otherwise looks clean, bright and decent. Again, this grades VG+ to VG++.

Playback outer sleeve has light wrinkling and creases. Looks clean and bright colored and also grades VG+ t VG++. Also has blank cardboard mailing insert included for strength when record was being sent from the factory.

So there you have it. An early, official live recording which doesn’t seem to come available very often. Plus, this one comes with almost all of it’s included extras.
