BOB DYLAN

GREAT WHITE WONDER

Original 1969
1st Issue

THE FIRST B00TLEG RECORD

COVER: VG+
Gatefold cover is snapping bright with scattered age spots. No soil, creases, writing or marks.
Seams are very strong, with light wear to bottom; very small (1/2") split at opening edge.

VINYL: VG++
High gloss vinyl has very few extremely light marks between the 4 sides. Very close to Near Mint.
All sides play extraordinarily clean with only fewest super-light tics.

Blank white labels are excellent, with tiny, faint penciled
"A", "B", "C" or "D" on appropriate side.

(barely visible as "C" and "D" at TOP CENTER of each label in PHOTO 2)

STRICT, CONSERVATIVE GOLDMINE Ratings

See PHOTOS Below

This is the first issue of the first boot LP of all time.

It conforms in all ways to the specifications* laid out in
THE GREAT WHITE ANSWERS,
the most authoritative knowledge-base for this LP and all known Dylan boots.
(*gwa 1Aa version 1 )

FIRST PRESSING
MATRIX NUMBERS
SIDE ONE: GF 001 / SIDE TWO: GF 002 / SIDE THREE: GF 003 / SIDE FOUR: GF 004

The gatefold cover is BLANK WHITE all sides as are the labels.

from bobsboots.com & gwa (GREAT WHITE ANSWERS) book:
"One of the most famous b**tlegs of all time. This is the first bootl*g ever to be produced in the rock-and-roll era. Great White Wonder was originally released in the United States in July of 1969. There was little on this piece to identify it to the world.

It came out in a blank white gatefold cover, with blank white labels. The only identifying mark whatsoever is the matrix numbering: GF 001/2/3/4. (catalogued as gwa 1Aa version 1). The name 'Great White Wonder' probably actually began as a joke when retailers needed to come up with a name for this blank white album. The term quickly became synonymous with Dylan in the b00tleg world however, and has since been used many, many times to refer to either the man or his work."

"Later in the year this famous album was repressed. [That] second press, (gwa 1Aa version 2) can be identified only by the addition of the number "2" carved after the matrix on all four sides of the LP."

*There is no added "2" to any of the matrix numbers on this LP.

Of course, subsequent to this, many pressings of various quality, growing further and further from the master tape, began cropping up in a multitude of packages.

The one listed here is an extremely rare ARCHIVED, very well kept FIRST PRESS
with clearest sound quality.

Included with this LP:
ORIGINAL November 29, 1969 Los Angeles Times newspaper article on this LP
...actual article; torn from that day's newspaper. Not a reproduction or copy.

Article is first major media published acknowledgment of this LP. It covers the early public response to the LP as well as that of the concerned corporate record label.
