Blind Faith / Blind Faith First UK Pressing Vinyl LP In Excellent Condition.
This is an absolute first pressing of this iconic 1969 record. This is evidenced by the sticker on the inside right-hand side of the gatefold.
The very first pressings of the LP included a plain white sticker with black text label glued to the bottom left corner of the inside right side below the lyrics to Sea Of Joy and Do What You Like. This read:
“Distributed in the U.K. by Polydor Records Ltd., and Island Records Ltd.”
… however, that text has long since faded, but the former presence of this sticker is plainly visible.
The sleeve is the ‘worst’ thing about this copy. I have not shown the front of the jacket as this offends some people. The former owner of this copy was one such individual because he folded the sleeve on itself obscuring the front photo and sticking both sides together. I, unaware of this, attempted to open it when I bought it and in so doing tore along the top and bottom of the sleeve on the front and rear. The tears on the front, not shown, are the mirror image of those on the rear.
Otherwise, the sleeve is intact, legible and whole. The spine is rather faded.
Now to the record itself ; as stated, this is a first pressing. It is in excellent condition. Multiple hairlines are visible when held to the light but these have no impact on the sound quality. It sounds absolutely wonderful and plays flawlessly with no skips, jumps, sticks, major scratches and the minimum of crackle, mainly confined to the rills and not the music.
If you look at the final photograph of the end of Side Two you can see what looks like a scratch running into the deadwax ; amazingly even this does NOT interfere with the music and can only be heard during the closing seconds of studio chatter and extraneous noises as the track fades and the side comes to a close.
I have only one reason for selling it and that is that I have just received another copy, once that is slightly better than this one and with a better sleeve. I have to see sense and stop owning up to ten copies of a single LP !
Sonically, musically, this is a fantastic copy. The sleeve is somewhat damaged owing to the tears but no information has been damaged or removed - it mainly affects blue sky, grass and a tiny bit of tummy.
