Released in North America in late 1972, Vol. 4 saw Black Sabbath (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler) successfully explore new musical directions while retaining their signature heavy, hard-hitting rock and roll sound. This is the record wherein Lester Bangs compares the lyrics favorably to Bob Dylan - a platinum-selling collection of songs, with an iconic album cover, that has stood the test of time.
The album in this auction is a promotional copy, generally referred to as a, "WLP," or white label promo. The cover bears the signs of time and I grade it as VG; the booklet attached inside the gatefold is intact and looks great. The disk itself is a solid near mint, a few inner-sleeve scuff marks marring what would otherwise be perfection.
