Found at an estate sale in Cheyenne, Wyoming


Billie Holiday Sings--Mercury MGC-118 10 inch LP with David Stone Martin Cover I Only Have Eyes For You You Turned The Tables On Me Blue Moon Solitude These Foolish Things Easy To Love You Go To My Head East Of The Sun   Recorded 1952  accompanied by Charlie Shavers (trumpet), Flip Phillips(tenor sax), Oscar Peterson (piano), Barney Kessel (guitar), Ray Brown (bass), Alvin Stoller (drums)     This is the Mercury pressing which preceded the Clef 10 inch pressing which used the same number.  Norman Granz prior to forming his own company had a distribution deal with Mercury which ended in 1953.  This is her first LP for him and probably the first ever Billie Holiday LP.   This is an original deep groove pressing.  So uber rare.  

This record along with several others were found in a chest at in the basement of a grand home.  The albums were as if they were kept in a time capsule.  Cheyenne has a very dry cool climate and keeps items as they were left.  
I have no experience grading records, I can say this record looks amazing for its age.  
Cover is incredible and shiny.  The edges have no splits.  The cover does have some water damage.  Please look at the photos.  I think this is a very rare find in this condition.  I am sure there are some pops and scratches but I do not see anything major. 
Label is like new.
