The classic Bill Evans recordings for Riverside set the standard for and had a profound impact on almost every jazz pianist that would follow Evans. This huge 18-record set constitutes Evans's entire Riverside output with his classic trios as well as other legendary sidemen from 1956 to 1964. Also included are several cuts from Evans's appearances as a sideman for Cannonball Adderly, and many unaccompanied solo sessions. From Evans's days in Miles Davis' first great quintet, through his celebrated trio with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, to larger ensemble recordings with Jim Hall, Freddie Hubbard and Zoot Sims, his unique, artistic approach to the piano was unmatched. This box is a testament to Evans's significance as a performer, composer, and innovator. This set is must for any true Evans aficionado.
