'Beyond The Implode' was a late 1970's - early 1980's punk group from Runcorn (near Liverpool). The band members were: Eddie Smith (Eddie Cameron), vocalist and co-founder of the group, who sadly passed away in December 2013; Ian Gardler, guitar; Nick Evans, percussion; Kevin Shields (me), synth; and Keith O'Connell (Keith Discreet), bass guitar. We all co-wrote the songs on this record. '11th Hour Breakdown' was the second of our singles, recorded in February 1980 at the Open Eye studios in Liverpool. Only 250 were made but over half were destroyed.
The record for sale is in mint condition - it has never been played. It is my own personal copy, which has been safely stored in a box with my collection of vinyl records from the 70's and 80'. I'd forgotten I still had this copy until I went through my old records recently (see my other listing for a small part of my record collection). This single is in its original cover (designed by me), which is in practically 'as new' condition (having been stored away safely for the past 34 years!). The inner sleeve is in the same condition. I was the synth player on this record. The singles were sold through 'Rough Trade' records in London and through the iconic Probe Records in Matthew Street, Liverpool. At the time of its release, it was reviewed by several music papers of that time and was played by the late John Peel on his BBC radio show.

There are not many of these original records in existence now so this is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase an item of original DIY punk / post-punk from that exciting and ground-breaking music era. Any creditable music collector will confirm the current market value of these original Beyond The Implode recordings, due to their rarity and the infrequency that they come up for sale (if ever).
The record for sale is in excellent condition, never been played. The master etching marks on the vinyl state "DIVE+102+A" on the A-side and "DIVE+102+B" on the B-side. The centre of the record (white) on the A-side is hand-stamped in red with 'DIVERSE 80' and '1', then stamped in black with 'BEYOND THE IMPLODE' and '11th HOUR BREAKDOWN'. It is stamped the same on the B-side but without the '1'.
