2nd Export issue ( Rarest One EMI boxed pressing )
PCS 7067 and PCS 7068-Stereo
Matrix: YEX 709-1/ 710-1/ 711-1/ 712-1
Stampers: There is a single stamp on each side but these are impossible to decipher
Originating from 1st matrices and pressed on heavyweight vinyl, this very rare variant is simply a continuation of the Apple 1968 UK 1st pressings. It is likely that these were exported to foreign countries unable to produce their own pressings, for internal distribution and therefore not requiring a UK label stamp. The Yellow Parlophone 1st export issues are rare enough but this, follow on, 1969 copy is possibly much rarer.
Both discs are in stunning condition. The vinyl surfaces are pristine showing just a few very feint, hard to see, hairlines and the wispiest of handling marks. Audio qualty is superb throughout with just a touch of peakwear but no surface noise and near silent run ins. However, there is a problem on the run in to the opening track, Back In The USSR. There is a continuous 'shush' sound. including a couple of dull clicks, which may be a skip (hard to tell without any music). Thankfully, this disappears abruptly as the track begins. The run in, between 1 and 2 also has a very mild 'shush' too. Although these are unwelcome, the tracks themselves play on flawlessly, with no encroachment to the vocals and apart from this, the rest of side 1,2,3 and 4, play perfectly.
Please be aware that I have played the opening track several times over and described what I hear as accurately as is humanly possible. I have cleaned the area thoroughly but this damage is permanent and will not disappear on your system.
The labels are in great condition, with all text vibrant and undamaged. There are numerous spindle trails in evidence and some stray needle lines.
The side opening cover is in top shape. Its whiteness has faded a little but all surfaces are clean and undamaged, only displaying a few mild creases here and there. The spine is perfect with no missing laminate and all text perfectly legible. Its serial number is 244075.
The original white 'patents applied for' inner sleeves are completely intact, only showing slight age toning and spotting.
The 1st issue 'Lips' lyric poster is in good condition with just a few short seam splits.
The 4 photos are good but have been pinned at some stage.
The rare photo spacer is in remarkable condition, with no tears, just a few mild creases and expected age toning.
All in all, a seldom seen, very rare variant in overall superb condition and a great addition to any collection.
N.B. I always listen to the whole disc(s) and try to give an honest description of its performance, noting any audible intrusions. Being a buyer as well, I have experienced the irritation of receiving items which although not described dishonestly, have had details of audible flaws 'conveniently' omitted from the write up. For your own peace of mind, I will give a full refund, including the cost of return postage, if you find the item unacceptable. However, with this particular listing I cannot accept a return against the faults I have pointed out, so please bear this in mind if you are in doubt. Overall these discs are in fabulous condition.
