Description
I’ve put up for auction several BEATLES-RELATED PROMO RECORDS from my own vinyl collection. So, please check my other auctions for records that you may want.
Here are the details about the record in this auction:
· “A HARD DAY’S NIGHT” b/w “I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER” by George Martin & His Orchestra
· This is United Artists Records UA 750.
· The 2 cuts on this single, as the label states, were: From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack of the Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night” (Lennon-McCartney)
· This is a WHITE LABEL PROMO 45 RPM RECORD.
· The record was issued in late September or early October, 1964.
· This is a 7-INCH PROMO RECORD issued by United Artists Records. There were 3 different white label promo issues of this record by United Artists. This is the issue that has black print and bars on the white labels with the artist shown as “GEORGE MARTIN & HIS ORCHESTRA” on one line in small print. While all 3 issues have become hard to find, this issue has the highest dollar value.
· As you may know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS such as the one in this auction were issued in very limited quantities and only made available for promotional purposes to, for example, DJs at the Radio Stations for on-air play or for juke box play. They were not made available to the general public, so they are VERY sought after due to their rarity and limited quantities.
· George Martin was the Beatles’ music director at EMI/Parlophone who was also a major influence on their music production.
· The VINYL (both sides) is Strong VG/Weak VG+ with numerous tiny hairlines present.
· The LABELS show some moderate wear (that looks like juke box wear). Please refer to the images.
· NOT A NEAR MINT COPY BUT STILL A NICE and HARD-TO-FIND BEATLES-RELATED WHITE LABEL PROMO RECORD TO ADD TO YOUR VINYL COLLECTION!!
(Thanks to Perry Cox’s Price Guide for the Beatles American Records for information about this record.)
FYI: I use Goldmine Grading Standards (G for Good, VG for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY grade the LPs and 45s I auction, so please know the descriptions of these grades before bidding. And please check my other auctions for MORE PROMO RECORDS and other LPs you may want to add to your collection.
