Description

Beatles UK Demo From Me to You. 45rpm. Fab Copy!!!

Mega rare 'McCartney-Lennon' single from 11 April 1963!!

Vinyl: Lots of shine on both sides. Visually graded as EX/EX*. Please note: that under a bright light some hairlines are visible on both sides, which would put realistic overall grading as EX-/EX-. A truly great copy, however, compared to many that have appeared in the PopSike archives (cf).

Labels: White labels have lost some of their bright sparkle through aging. Some small smudge marks too. The close-up pictures will give the best indication of quality. Nevertheless absolutely no writing or pen marks on labels, which was most unusual for these demos.

Cover: This ‘Top Pops’ cover didn’t originally come with the Beatle early demos, but the winner is welcome to it. I would probably grade it as VG. If you prefer a crisp Green Parlophone sleeve instead, I can supply you with one. Please note there is some ballpoint pen writing on one side of the Top Pops cover.

Tax code: MT.

Stampers: 1A/ 1A.

‘From Me to You’ background: Released on 11 April 1963, the single was the Beatles' first number one in some of the UK charts, second in others, but failed to make an impact in the US at the time of its initial release. However, a 1963 cover version released by Del Shannon resulted in the song becoming the first Lennon/McCartney tune to enter the American pop chart. It was one of the very last songs to be credited "McCartney/Lennon"; soon afterwards their songs began appearing credited to "Lennon/McCartney".

*Record Collector Grading system: EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
