If you want to experience (or re-experience) that heart-throbbing excitement of "Beatlemania" and the anticipation of another Beatles hit, this is the set to have. For British teens, the earlier hits were only available as singles or extended play discs. The vinyl singles had a special punch that was missing from the LP versions, particularly here in the USA where Capitol Records muddied the British mixes with additional reverb. One listen to these mixes and you'll understand what the fuss was all about and why their music is timeless. Just leave yourself room to groove!
One of the nicest things about this set is that the 45rpm adapters are actually built into the discs; you won't need to mess with adapters.
I purchased this set around 1982. I bought it to complement my Mobile Fidelity LP collection (which I just sold) in order to have all the official Beatle recordings. (Since that time, of course, alternate versions were bootlegged or became available as part the Anthology recordings.) This set has always been in a smoke-free, climate controlled environment. The box is near mint; there is a 3/4" tear from one corner of the hinge (see picture). The sleeves are all mint. The vinyl is all mint with the following four exceptions: R5833 has a 1/8" scratch midway across the grooves on the Let It Be side. R4983, R5160, and R5200 are near mint and should play fine. All of these are production related imperfections. That's it. All the discs appear flat.
Also included is the original shipping carton that the set was packed in when it arrived at the record store (Harvard Coop Record Dept.).
I will pack this in a larger box with crumpled newspaper. I will ship UPS Ground insured or FedEx Ground insured only to a buyer in the USA. Buyer pays shipping.
