THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1967 UK 1st PRESS MONO LP
**MISPRESSED FACTORY SAMPLE**
This rare & unusual copy of a 1967 1st mono pressing is on the UK black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7027
Unusual as the labels are on this copy are reversed - i.e. the side labelled '1' plays side 2 and vice versa.
The side 1 label carries a genuine pointed-ended 'Factory Sample' sticker.
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co..' rims.
The 'KT tax/price code is visible on the side 1 label.
Housed in a fully laminated, inner-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover.
Complete with original untouched cut-out sheet & red & white patterned inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 638-1 & XEX 637-1
Stamper numbers: 2/ATA & 4/ATR
Labels: EXCELLENT MINUS
Slight hole touch-up but no major wear.
Visual: VERY GOOD PLUS
Very clean surfaces which when viewed in strong daylight bear just a few light sleeve removal lies but no significant marks or scratches.
Close inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals some wispy paper hairlines but no additional wear.
Quality, sharp-edged vinyl which lies 100% flat both sides on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT
Carefully played on good quality equipment all tracks play cleanly & clearly with no crackle or groovewear distortion.
Even the easily damaged 'She's Leaving Home' plays without any significant break-up or distortion.
There are no clicks, jumps, repeats or any other major audible faults anywhere.
Cover: VERY GOOD PLUS
Vibrant & unfaded front panel retaining its high-gloss laminate which bears just 3 small thumbnail creases but other significant wear.
There is a bump to the upper left & lower right corners but all opening edges are clean with minimal wear and no tears or feathering.
The inner gatefold is in perfect condition with no missing paper or laminate.
The rear panel has a few tiny scratches and minor creases but is still bright & shiny.
The spine is slightly squashed but all text is present & readable. All seams are intact, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
A few light creases but no tears or splits.
