READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles’ Second Album MONO LP 1964 RCA First Pressing Running Time Error, NM!
For some kooky reason, all of the consignment plants were sent a small quantity of Side 1 labels which had the running time for “You Can’t Do That” listed as 2:23, rather than the correct timing of 2:33. But they also pressed corrected timing for the track. It’s most common to find copies out of Decca with this error.
This copy was pressed by RCA, and it’s in unbelievable store stock, brand new condition. I make a policy of not using the NM grade unless the vinyl is perfect. But if you’re a grader who does use the “Mint” grade, you can with confidence, grade this copy as “Mint.”
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Both sides shine 1964-brand new. 100% full gloss on both sides!
Plates--- J24/F19. There are no Capitol insignias in the dead wax, because Capitol didn’t press this copy.
Cover--- Strong VG+. Light to moderate yellowing on the front cover, light dirtwear to the back. Letter “L” ink-stamped in the upper left corner of the back cover. There’s a small ballpoint pen mark that looks accidental to the right of the word, “Album” on the back cover. Top and bottom seams have light shelfwear, but NO SEAM SPLITS.
Labels--- NM/NM. Labels have full and bold colors, full 100% heavy gloss. They look just as they did in 1964. NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Earlier 1964 Capitol purple inner sleeve is present. Has a severe crease from improper insertion at the factory. One side seam and the bottom seam have splits a few inches long.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: None
If you’re always stuck this time of the year for a great Christmas present for your Beatles collector, put this copy under the tree. Even if they have a copy of this pressing, which they won’t, this one will be their final upgrade.
A stunning beautiful piece of vinyl!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
