Description

This is the holy grail for all Beatles collectors! This listing is for an immaculate 1966 ORIGINAL Beatles "Yesterday & Today" STEREO Second-State Butcher cover in NEAR MINT+++ condition! This is as good as it gets! As you may know, the STEREO version is much rarer than the MONO version. In fact, it's estimated that the Mono versions outnumber the Stereo versions at a ratio of about 10 to 1. As a result, there is a HUGE premium for stereo pressings! The Ringo "V" from his black sweater can be easily seen through the cover slick!
This listing includes a hand-signed Letter of Authenticity from Perry Cox, the world's leading expert on Beatles memorabilia! Perry Cox has examined this particular example and has said that not only is it in NEAR MINT condition...this example is one of the best butcher covers that he's ever seen! If Perry Cox says it's one of the best examples he's ever seen...that's REALLY saying something! Perry has seen thousands of high quality butcher covers over the years and he has stated that this particular example is one of the best that he has every seen!
The album cover is bright snow white and super clean! It's easy to find the Ringo "V" impression which is peeking through cover slick. The spine and print is super crisp, clean and legible. The back cover is also in amazing shape! As you can see, this back cover features RIAA #5, which is indicative of a Los Angeles pressing. That's right...in addition to being a rare stereo pressing, this particular example was printed on the West Coast. And there's a huge premium for West Coast printings! So you're getting the incredibly rare stereo release which was pressed on the West Coast! With this example, you're definitely getting the best of both worlds!
As you can see, this cover is in archive quality condition! It's exceptionally clean with no writing, no creases, no seam splits, no yellowing, etc. There are a couple of minor flaws that should be mentioned. One of the corners has a slight ding. Perry Cox mentions this in his letter. There is also a tiny nick near the bottom edge of the cover. And finally, there are two tiny little spots near the RIAA number on the back cover. These are the types of insignificant flaws that you don't even notice unless you're specifically looking for it. Aside from these minor issues, this cover is absolutely PRISTINE! You won't find a better example! And if a better example does exist, the owner probably wouldn't be foolish enough to sell it. The only reason i'm selling is because I need some quick cash to pay the "Taxman".  :)
The record is also NEAR MINT++ and retains the original luster. The West Coast labels are in pristine condition with absolutely no flaws whatsoever! The original Capitol '66 orange inner dust sleeve is also included and is in MINT condition! As a bonus, the winning bidder will also receive a COPY of the Capitol Records original "recall letter" that went out to all distributors and promoters on June 14, 1966. In fact, i'll include two copies of the recall letter - (1) color copy and (1) black & white copy. Both have been printed on high quality paper.
Bottom line...this is a top notch example that you just don't see very often! These second state stereo examples in NEAR MINT or better condition are getting harder and harder to find! With all the second state examples that are getting peeled and all of the butcher covers getting "butchered" due to poor peel jobs, experts believe the second state examples will continue to go up in value and in the end, second state butchers will be far more valuable than the 3rd state examples!
NOTE: This example is in such great shape overall that if the winning bidder opts to have this one professionally peeled, it'll be difficult to tell if it's a FIRST STATE or a THIRD STATE butcher! The FIRST STATE stereo examples in NM condition are consistently selling for $8K-$10K.
If you've been waiting for a flawless butcher cover...the example offered here is as close as you're ever going to get! Definitely an excellent investment opportunity! Finding a butcher cover in this condition is EXTREMELY rare! And it will only increase in value over time! The days of finding a near mint stereo butcher cover for $1,000 are over!
This is the most sought after album on the planet and more and more people are collecting vinyl these days. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this example selling for $10K or more in 5 to 10 years. Definitely an investment grade album that you never have to worry about decreasing in value! With one click of the buy it now button, you can become the owner of one of the nicest butcher covers in existence!!! Good luck!!!
