Description
THE BEATLES - PLEASE PLEASE ME Rarer than the black & gold labelled copies, this early UK mono pressing was the first to use the now famous yellow & black label and dates from spring 1963.
As we all know, the label variation with the small 331/3 in the 9 o' clock position was only available for a few weeks after initial release until it was noticed that the label already had the 331/3 above the yellow parlophone logo so the smaller one was quickly removed from subsequent releases.
What makes this particular copy really unusual is that the small 331/3 only appears on the side 2 label making it some kind of transitional variation, miss-press or a totally unique one off.

CONDITION Disc
Labels : VERY GOOD Both labels are clean with barely visible spindle marks although the spindle holes display wear particularly on side 2. side 2 also has the initials JK written in biro.
Visual : VERY GOOD Both playing surfaces display many faint hairlines and a few visible scratches, particularly side 1.
Aural : VERY GOOD Both playing surfaces play through without any jumps or skips. A loud pressing, the majority of the album plays without any sound distortion, only some light crackle between tracks and at run ins/outs. However there are some ticks during 'Anna' , 'Boys' , 'P.S. I love you' and 'Baby it's you' due to a mark on each track but due to the loud cut, these do not over-ride the volume of the recording.
Sleeve : FAIR + Original gold & black issue sleeve with the Angus McBean credit in the lower far right corner. The sleeve hasn't survived it's 50 years so well. Although still in one piece, the top and bottom opening edges have a 2cm & 4cm split respectively. Spine isn't to bad and fully legible with the laminate almost fully intact. Top and bottom edges and corners show some wear. Back cover had been taped and then tape removed showing some yellowing with some of the flipback torn.
Inner sleeve : EXCELLENT Original Emitex poly-lined inner.
