Description

Beatles Please Please Me Gold Label LP Super Rare Crossover Labels

This beautiful item is a super-rare Please Please Me gold label in the correct sleeve (Angus McBean credit to the right of the sleeve, close to the edge).  What makes this super rare is the fact that it has two different labels on it. Side 1 has the Northern Songs credits.  The other side has the Dick James Music Company credits for Do You Want to Know A Secret and There’s a Place which should be Northern Songs credits.  These labels were produced at different times – the first incorrect Dick James labels being produced first and the corrected labels coming months later. So what has happened at the pressing plant is that a set of old labels, which should have been destroyed when the new labels arrived, have found their way in to the pressing machine.  You may have a Northern Songs version of this LP and you may also have a Dick James Music Company version of this LP but until you have this one, you don’t have a full set and how many of the 25,000 Dick James copies and 12,000 Northern Songs copies survived in anything like excellent condition and how many are crossovers in that condition?  You can probably count the crossovers on one hand! (pressed quantities of mono Gold Labels information acquired from Record Collector magazine – Issue 401 of May 2012).  I have taken lots of photos so that you can see condition, which is superb.  There was a label stuck on one side on the label at some point and its removal has ruffed up the surface, which can be seen in a couple of photos.

I will ship to countries in which the items can be tracked from door to door and signed for only.

Just thought I'd add a bit so that you know my background.  I've been collecting The Beatles vinyl for 28 years and I only buy excellent to mint.  Hence, I only sell in excellent to mint condition.  The sleeve on this one of course is not in the same condition as the vinyl.  I'd grade the sleeve as very good plus.  This item is super rare.  It's all about the vinyl and the label credits on this one.
