Generally agreed to be the best sounding assemblage of Beatles music (save, perhaps some of the early, unobtainable japanese pressings), here is a wonderful boxed set called "The Beatles: The Collection" issued in 1982 by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, MSFL for short. Each boxed set of 14 LPs was uniquely serial numbered and included extras, a "Geo-Disc" to set turntable tracking angle and an "Artbook" of all the album illustrations. Assembled here were the UK album versions of the nearly entire Beatles recording catalog, from the first "Please, Please Me" album to "Let It Be", all richly remastered onto heavy virgin vinyl from the original Master Tapes. Each individual record came well protected in a double sleeved album cover that depicted each actual Master Tape and its Log Sheet in its storage box. Neat! All this came housed in a special black fabric covered, hinged front box, embossed with gold lettering.

This is our own personal copy of the MFSL boxed set, bought new when issued. The set includes the original outer shipping box, with the MFSL printed tape and mailing label still affixed. All the original packing materials and supports are included and the set will be repackaged inside these materials, just as issued. As a special bonus, we will include the original Factory created promotional brochure for the set. This glossy 8 3/8" X 11", four page fold open brochure is an elegant introduction to the item. Rarely ever seen, it remains in VG++ condition.

The record set itself is superb. All the LPs have been opened with most played only once, to transfer the music to cassette for more prolonged use. Truth be told, we did play Ringo's drum solo bridge on the Abbey Road LP between Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight when we wanted to show off our speakers. Yes, it's that awesome on this pressing. Thus, all the discs are NM and as factory issued. The Artbook is equally as new, with just a few fingerpint smudges on the outer plain paper wrap cover. A large book, it contains the edition number certification as well as the original, loose Warranty card. The Geo-Disc was never used while the outer case looks like new with just a spot of aging to the plated hasp latch.

Although we were careful enough to save the original outer shipping box, it did sustain a bit of damage from several moves. There is extraneous plastic tape on it and several large felt marker notes written on the plain crdboard sides. Several of these markings, though, came from the original shipping carrier and the retailer. Overall, then, the contnets are C9 or better, the display case and extras are C9 and the shipping carton is a C7. Still an Investment Grade example, it will be a centerpiece of any collection. There are twelve large format pictures below so you can see exactly what you will get and just how fantastic the set truly is.

Here's the best part: because we own this, we don't have to hide behind Reserves or any of that. THERE IS NO RESERVE, just a fair opening bid. Anything above that will win it, but NO, we will not entertain offers to close the auction early or sell it directly. We will not put a Buy It Now on the piece, so don't ask. Shipping: Actual freight and mandatory insurance costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. No item over $15 in value is sent without full insurance, for our mutual protection.
