THE BEATLES - 'LOVE ME DO'/'P.S. I LOVE YOU'
1962 UK RED & WHITE *DEMONSTRATION* 45
**THE RAREST UK SINGLE**
With no more than 250 copies of this demo pressed, it is not surprising that this is one of the rarest and most sought after Beatles records in the world.
This ultra-rare & 100% genuine 1962 UK DEMONSTRATION disc is on the red & white Parlophone label: 45-R4949
Both sides bear the correct oversized promotional labels with upper/lower case 'Parlophone Co..' rims.
McCartney's name is misspelt as 'McArtney' on both labels.
The 'ZT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the 'Love Me Do' label & in both run-outs.
Housed in its original EMI 'Top Pop' promotional paper cover.
Matrix numbers: 7XCE 17144-1N & 7XCE 17145-1N
Stamper numbers: - /JR & - /JR
These special 'JR' promotional stampers confirm its authenticity and that it was one of the first copies ever pressed. CONDITION Disc
Labels: FAIR/GOOD
The results of former 1960's 'D.J. Colly's' ownership of this disc are all too clear to see.
Side 1 has fading to the red 'A' & 'Colly' written twice. The 'P.S. I Love You' label bears the same name, the remains of some red ink & evidence of an long removed sticker on the publishing credit.
However, these faults do not take away the fact that this is a 100% genuine copy of an incredibly rare record, which rarely comes up for sale.
Visual: EXCELLENT PLUS
Despite the shortcomings of the labels, both surfaces are amazingly clean, bright and glossy and totally unmarked when viewed in strong daylight.
Close and careul inspection under halogen light reveals just a few barely visible paper hairlines and one or two fine stylus hairlines but incredibly no other marks or wear.
Both sides are free from any scuffs, marks or any futher significant or major visible faults.
Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS
This copy really has only received less than a handful of careful plays and the sound quality from the very first stampers is outstanding.
Both sides play with a rich bass and a crystal clear sound missing on all other pressings of this title.
John's harmonica is especially revealing - sharp and clean with no break-up or peakwear distortion.
Both run-ins play without any noise or intereference.
It may not be perfect, but you will perhaps not get another chance to obtain a copy of this ultimate UK rarity.
Cover: EXCELLENT
Bright & clean with just minor storagewear creasing but no writing, tears or splits.
