Beatles LP The Silver Album Let It Be Pre-Release 1969
For those unaware, throughout 1969, there had been unconfirmed reports about the release of the “Let It Be” LP under the title, “Get Back.” The release dates had been pushed back so many times that fans were becoming increasingly frustrated. As everyone knows, the album was shelved until after the release of their last album, “Abbey Road,” making “Let It Be” the official last release, FINALLY in April, 1970.
But during that terse and tense year of awaiting the release of “Let It Be,” the Glyn Johns mix of some of the tracks had leaked out, and in some cases, radio stations were even playing some of them without proper clearances. I clearly remember hearing “Teddy Boy” once, (not on this copy) and being surprised that it didn’t make the final album. This copy does contain the elusive five minute version of "Dig It."
Copies of this LP showed up on boardwalks at the beach where our family used to frequent during that time. These Beatle Boots were so preliminary that they had to invent song titles in order to issue them. (See labels.)
The sound quality is okay, due to the low technology at the time, but still very listenable. The construction of these covers are very different to the industry standard, and they have not been in use since that period of time. People of my generation will probably be delighted when they suddenly remember them! This cover is a gatefold, and it has some symmetrical staining on the inside bottom.
Vinyl--- Beautiful VG++. Would be NM, save for some very light scratches. Retains 95% brand new gloss!
Cover--- Issued in a generic white sleeve, included but not pictured.
Labels--- Very nice silver-toned labels, spindle marks on both sides.
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
