READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

Beatles LP Something New 1964 First Pressing LA SCARCE Labels EXCELLENT Vinyl!

This copy uses hybrid labels of a slightly rarer variation than most first pressings from LA.  Most LA copies have the album title and the band’s name with no gap between them.  But some copies were typeset with a gap between.  (See photos and then check your copy.)

There were two variations using the gap.  The first used thick text with the word, “STEREO” tightly spaced.  The second variation used text that was thinner, and the word, “STEREO” loosely spaced.

Side 1 on this copy is the first variation with the gap, and Side 2 is the second variation with the gap.  In 40 years, this is the only copy like it that I’ve ever seen.

AND the LP, while not NM, is in beautiful condition.

Vinyl--- Excellent.  Vinyl looks 95% brand new, with mostly original shine.  The exceptions are very light, short scratches that can be seen under normal room lighting, but cannot be felt with the fingertip.

Plates--- A7/ B8.  Definitely early, first pressing plates.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this a Los Angeles pressing.

Cover--- Structurally solid, muscular strong.  Top seam has a few burrs from shelfwear.  Front cover has light ringwear, back cover has light to moderate dirtwear.

Labels--- NM/ NM.  Beautiful, bold colored and glossy, just like they were in 1964.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Original blue Capitol inner sleeve is present and in pretty good condition.  One side has some missing blue, probably from a sticker removal.  It’s at the top, next to the Capitol logo.  See photo.  Bottom seam has a one-inch center seam split.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 5. This is the first-printed cover with the numeral 5 printed below the “Meet the Beatles” pictured cover, and to the left of the Needle Damage disclaimer, rather than next to the RIAA symbol.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
