READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP Rubber Soul 1965 First Pressing STEREO CONSIGNMENT in Shrink
Mono consignment pressings are abundant. Stereo-consigned pressings are far more scarce, not only because they were pressed by record companies other than Capitol, who of course pressed the lion’s share of Beatles albums, but doubly so because mono was still outselling stereo copies by a margin of 4 to 1 in 1965. There just wasn’t that big a need for consigned plants to press stereo copies, and so far less were ordered.
Vinyl--- Excellent. The grooves have dulled a little over the past 58 years. Dulled grooves usually translates into surface noise, so if that’s the case, try a good VPI cleaning or two. But the level of angel hair scratches is very nearly almost zero. Under a bright bulb, you can scour and find two, maybe three. Some manufacturer’s cloudiness is pressed into the grooves.
Plates--- W2P/ W4P. This configuration of letters both before and after the plate number makes this copy pressed by Decca Records. My notes say that this copy has the false start on "I'm Looking Through You."
Cover--- Excellent. Still in the original shrinkwrap, this cover was preserved over the nearly 6 decades beautifully. Dirt streaks in the photos are on the shrinkwrap, and haven't transferred to the cover. With the exception of some browning on the back cover down the mouth, all the graphics are 1965-bold. The white borders protected by the shrink are still blinding white. The only issue is to the front cover, where the bottom right corner, and for about two inches up had been damaged somehow. NO SPLIT SEAMS. See photos.
Breathe Holes--- Two breathe holes are present on the front cover, two on the back.
Labels--- NM/ NM.
Labels have the small concentric groove very close to the playhole. They are also pressed nearly flat against the vinyl, no raised platform, like the other pressings. Those two features makes this disc pressed from Decca lathes.
Labels do have “The Beatles” printed on both sides, which technically were second-pressing printed labels. To date, however, I’ve not been able to verify that any stereo Decca pressings were pressed with first-run labels, and I’ve been searching since 1975. That makes this the first pressing consigned stereo Decca to the absolute best of my knowledge. NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Original Olive green Capitol inner sleeve is present and in Excellent condition. Nice and flat, NO SPLIT SEAMS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 5
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
