Description
This is a sealed Mobile Fidelity LP from the Beatles Box Set - it is very rare to find these sold individually and rarer still to find them factory sealed. It is in mint condition and comes in a sleeve that shows both sides of the original master tape box. I recently purchased a large collection of Mobile Fidelity CDs and vinyl from a former employee. There are lots of great sealed Gold CDs, vinyl, test pressings and a handful of opened but unplayed items. Please check my other listings to see more of these great audiophile delights. Here is some background on the box: "Officially titled “THE BEATLES: THE COLLECTION,” this is the outstanding boxed edition presented by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs of Japan. In commencing production the Stereo Masters for each album, originally released on Parlophone Records, was sent to Japan. There, the tapes were examined and half-speed masters acetates were cut and forwarded to press a limited edition of 25,000 records of each title. (This one is #10,290.) This impressive set was released worldwide in September 1982. The 14 LP box set of half-speed mastered records was presented in a handsome black box with gold foil printing. Each set is sequentially numbered and includes a beautiful 38-page booklet containing the artwork for each album. The collection includes: 1 - Please Please Me; 2 - With The Beatles; 3 - A Hard Day's Night; 4 - Beatles For Sale; 5 - Help!; 6 - Rubber Soul; 7 – Revolver; 8 - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; 9 - The Beatles (White Album record 1); 10 - The Beatles (White Album record 2); 11 - Yellow Submarine; 12 - Abbey Road; 13 - Let It Be; and 14 - Magical Mystery Tour. Since “Magical Mystery Tour” was originally released as a 2-record EP, the American album format was used, but the tracks were replaced with the British stereo mixes. It is very important to keep in mind that these records were pressed onto “super” vinyl; the difference between “super” and commercial is that “super” is virgin vinyl. The advantages are that it is a heavier gauge, and it retains no memory. Uniquely, virgin vinyl is translucent when held in front of a light source. Arguably, the analog recordings found on this set are the finest ever to be reproduced on record. Critical listeners will agree that the analog recordings found on these vinyl records have softer tones with a wider range of mid-tones when compared to the digital remixes."
