Description

This is the original UK pressing released on 28th February 1964 on Polydor NH 52275. It was recorded in June 1961, with the Beatles doing an instrumental (credited to Harrison/Lennon) called Cry for a Shadow, and backing Tony Sheridan on vocals on Why on the B side. I bought it the late 1960’s in a box of other records, and it has been stored upright and unplayed ever since.

The record looks very good despite its age, and there are very few surface marks. The A side rates as Excellent. The B side has a few pops and crackles at the beginning. Apart from this, it sounds fine, so I’ve graded it as Very Good.

The Picture Sleeve rates as Fair on a strict scale – there is a pencil hole through the centre, and a tiny split at the top right of the Cry for a Shadow side (both visible on the photo). Otherwise, it’s very clean, and would be Very Good without the physical damage. The label is Excellent.
