This NEAR MINT UK MONO 1st pressing dates from initial July 1964 release and is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1230

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text with 'The Parlophone Co..' worded rim texts.

An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.

Matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N & XEX 482-3N

Stamper codes: 4/AO & 8/GDM

Housed in a pristine, rarer front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.

Complete with its original tissue-paper lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.

A superb clean & unworn pair which bear just a small handful of faint spindle marks around the side 1 centre hole and even less on 2.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Pristine deep-gloss playing surfaces which retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shine, undulled by over-play or incorrect storage. Viewed in strong daylight, side 1 is immaculate and totally unmarked. Side 2 does bear a few light hairlines and some inner-sleeve removal marks in one small area, but nothing feelable or major. Closer examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals no further visual blemishes or wear of any kind, just a sparking rainbow shine. Both sides of this well looked after and cherished disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

This 1st class copy has clearly received less than a handful of careful plays and the sound overall is clean and unworn. There was little to distract me during my single careful play-check at volume, just a little crackle on the opening chord of 'A Hard Day's Night' and some noise in the band between tracks 1 & 2 on side 2. There were definitely no groove/playwear on the easily worn innermost tracks or any clicks, pops or any other such noise through this wonderful sounding copy.

It is remarkable how such a piece has survived the past 40+ years in such condition - this cover really does look as if it left the shops yesterday. Carefully and correctly stored in ideal non-smoking condition, virtually every aspect of this cover is 'as new'. The rich, deep-blue front panel retain an immaculate high-gloss laminate free from any 'thumbnail' or spine wrinkles or any indentation or storage scratching of any kind. There is a almost invisible bump to the lower left corner which has caused a small bubble in the laminate, but apart from that all are perfectly square, unrubbed and unbruised. Both opening edges appear totally untouched with no 'pushes' tears or feathering either side. The rear panel is flawless and pristine white with not a mark or blemish of any description. Naturally on such a piece, both seams and the spine are smooth & unstressed. You will not find a better example of this cover.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +

Clean & crisp with a few gentle bends from storage but no writing, tears or seam splits.
