READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles 4-LP Boxed Set Extremely Rare Alpha Omega ALTERNATE Vol. 2 Pink Box, EX!

If you’re one of the few collectors who are aware that this box exists, you probably aren’t aware that this Volume 2 is unnecessarily different than the well-known regular Volume 2.  Yes, there are two different Volume 2’s!

This ALTERNATE Volume 2 was sent from Asbury Park a full year later than Cleveland’s Volume 2.  Cleveland sets were pressed in 1972, and the pink Asbury Park sets were pressed in 1973.

**That means that this pink set was filling the very last orders after Capitol’s Cease and Desist order of January, 1973!

This alternate pink box has 27 tracks that DO NOT appear on both of the Volume 2 black boxed sets.  They are as follows:

1.  It Don’t Come Easy

2.  Because

3.  What You’re Doing

4.  In My Life

5.  It’s Only Love

6.  She’s Leaving Home

7.  You’re Gonna Lose That Girl

8.  Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand

9.  Don’t Bother Me

10.           Till There Was You

11.           Here, There and Everywhere

12.           Got to Get You Into My Life

13.           I’ll Cry Instead

14.           While My Guitar Gently Weeps

15.           And I Love Her

16.           Every Little Thing

17.           This Boy

18.           Wah-Wah

19.           Long Tall Sally

20.           Please Mr. Postman

21.           If I Needed Someone

22.           Don’t Let Me Down

23.           Rain

24.           Old Brown Shoe

25.           Oh! Darling

26.           Octopus’ Garden

27.           I’m Only Sleeping

Weirdly enough, the version of “This Boy” included in this box is actually the instrumental soundtrack version from the 1964 “A Hard Day’s Night” United Artists soundtrack.

If that isn’t weird enough for you, the track, “Wah-Wah” is the live version from George’s Concert for Bangla-Desh.  It’s also a different mix of the same performance.  Since this set was sourced from the commercial reel-to-reel tapes, the Bangla-Desh reel-to-reel must have alternate mixes.

The following list are the tracks that were deleted from the 1972 boxed set in order to make room for the above track listing.  These songs from the well-known Volume 2 DO NOT appear on this set:

1.  She Said, She Said

2.  Pepperland

3.  Oh Yoko

4.  I’m Looking Through You

5.  Too Many People

6.  Back Seat of My Car

7.  Magical Mystery Tour

8.  I Don’t Want to Spoil the Party

9.      Birthday

10.           All Things Must Pass

11.           Apple Scruffs

12.           Baby, It’s You

13.           A Taste of Honey

14.           Mean Mr. Mustard

15.           Please Please Me

16.           Dizzy Miss Lizzie

17.           I’ve Just Seen a Face

18.           Norwegian Wood

19.           You Won’t See Me

20.           Drive My Car

21.           What Goes On

22.           Two of Us

23.           I Dig a Pony

24.           Lovely Rita

25.           When I’m 64

26.           You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away

27.           P.S. I Love You

Finally, this boxed set is in better sound quality than the black boxed sets of Volume 2.  It has crisper highs, whereas the black boxes are heavy on the midranges.

This is the second-rarest Alpha Omega boxed set.  The single-most rare set is on the yellow Sunshine label, actually pressed by Columbia Records!

Vinyl--- NM/NM. EX/EX. NM/EX. VG++/VG++.

Sides are configured 1&4, 2&3, 6&7 and 5&8.

Plates--- ATRBH Vol. 2 appears on all 8 sides.  Following that catalogue number are the side designations, Side 1 through Side 8.

Box--- VG.  The damage to this box is almost exclusively the whitewear to the front and back of the box.  Apart from that, there is one split corner of the four of them.

Labels--- All 8 labels are in Excellent condition.  They all look brand newly-printed, but they all have very light manufacturer’s defects.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Inner Sleeves--- VG+.  All 4 inner sleeves are in VG+ condition.  Hardly any yellowing.  One has a small split side seam.

Generic inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeves en route.

Does your Beatles collector think they have everything? This one’s going to make a phenomenal Christmas gift for someone this year.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
