Beatles 45 Ticket to Ride UNDOCUMENTED First Pressing with Label Ridges, VG!

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

Completely unheard of first pressing with label serrations!

Collectors are well aware that it wasn't until 1968 that Capitol introduced their new serrated ridges onto their 45’s as an anti-slip device for people who still insisted on stacking their 45’s when they played them.  That was the very limited “Subsidiary of…” run, which went off the shelves almost immediately when Apple was launched.

They are easily identified by their smaller labels that fit inside the serrations, as well as the small Capitol logo that fits inside the orange part of the swirl.  The “Subsidiary of…” text was also added to the bottom perimeter print.

NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THAT RUN, this copy of “Ticket to Ride” has NONE of those characteristics.

It must have been from a test-run batch, because this variation with first pressing labels was never given a proper full catalogue run.  To date, only about 5 titles have been discovered.

But they’ve never been documented or discussed anywhere in the great books.

Vinyl: VG/VG.  Both sides have a light amount of light scratches only.  None can be felt with the fingertip.  Vinyl shines about 75% to 80% brand new.

Plates: G2/F1.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Labels: EX/EX.  Side 1 label looks full glossy.  Side 2 label has some very light whitewear on the left-hand side.

Labels are full-sized as compared to the 1968 “Subsidiary of…” pressing.  Serrations are pressed into the labels, rather than the labels fitting inside the serrations.  No “Subsidiary of…” text is in the bottom perimeter print.  This is definitely a late first pressing.

Sleeve: EX.  Original Capitol company sleeve lies nice and flat.  Crisp edges.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

**If this is the first copy of this title that you’ve ever seen with these ridges, it’s likely to be your last one that you’ll ever see.  I found this copy over 20 years ago, and I’ve never seen another one since.

It’s the copy that’s pictured in my two-volume set of books on flash drive on rare American pressings, “Demystifying the Beatles.” **

**Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.**

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
