John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band "LIVE PEACE IN TORONTO" ORIGINAL 1970 UK 1st Pressing "Factory Sample"!!!!

Released on the 12th December 1969!!!! This album did Not chart!!!!

This was the Fourth official EMI release by John Lennon!!!!!

The album is Credited to "The Plastic Ono Band"!!!!

John & Yoko were invited to appear at the Toronto "Rock'n'Roll Revival Concert", so at very short notice, they got together a Band and flew out to Toronto on the 12th September 1969!!!! With the appearance due the following day, the First chance for a rehearsal was at the Rear of a "Boeing 707"!!!! John's entourage included Eric Clapton, Alan White, Klaus Voorman and a number of Assistants!!!!

The Concert was in front of a crowd of 25,000 at the "Varsity Stadium"!!!! John starts off by explaining to the audience that they are only going to play songs "They Know", as they haven't been together long, and they kick off with some classic "Rock'n'Roll". After "Yer Blues", Yoko introduces "Cold Turkey" as a New Song  and it was then performed Live for the very First time. It was secorded as a Single a couple of weeks later!!!! For the Intro to "Give Peace A Chance" John warns the crowd he Can remember the chorus but Not all the bits inbetween!!!!

Side: 2 starts with  "Don't Worry Kyoko" also being performed Live for the First time!!!! The final track "John John" first appeared on the "Wedding Album", on this version Yoko does her thing over the sounds of Feedback generated by the Guitars of John, Eric and Klaus who eventually leave their Guitars leaning against the Speakers, therefor leaving the "Feedback Sounds". They moved to the centre of the stage, light up a cigarette then walk off. Mal Evans walks on, and one by one turns Off the Amplifiers!!!!

The album Sleeve was once again designed by John Kosh, and First Editions included a John & Yoko calander for 1970. The calander had Pictures, Poems and Songs. The Poems were taken form John & Yoko's printed works, and some are those that John had performed on the Beatles "Fan Club" Christmas Disc of 1968!!!! 

Obviously this "Recording" is NOT one of John's "Rarest" Albums to Locate!!!! However what makes this a Very Collectable item is the "Factory Sample" sticker on the Label and the Condition!!!!

Factory Samples were as a rule used on only 500 records off the Press!!!! These were intended for "Radio Disc Jockeys", "Record Executives", "Record Reviewers", "Record Shops" and "EMI Employees", to help Promote the sales of each record!!!! These were NOT FOR SALE and should not have got to the General Public!!!!

There are "Four" different types of Factory Sample Stickers"!!!! Type A: This is the First variation seen on The Beatles discs, and was in use from 1962 until around 1970. Type B: This is the Second variation, common from around 1970/1. Type C: This is the Third variation, common form around 1971 until roughly 1974. Type D: Fourth variation first starting to appear on some "Two Box LP's Sets" in 1974!!!! 

The Matrix, Mother and Stampers are:

Side One: CORE-2001A-1U. On the run out grooves are the letters R  and the number 1.

Side Two: CORE-2001B-1U. On the run out grooves are the letters A and the number 1.

Having single Mother and Stamper codes show this to be one of the very First off the Press!!!

CONDITION OF VINYL:

The Centre Labels to both sides are in "Superb" condition. Though when held up to a very strong light there are signs of Spindal Marks present to both sides, but they are MINIMAL and NONE that even remotely spoil their look!!!! They are both Spotless, Clean and all the Lettering is Perfect with no signs of Rubbing!!!!

The "Factory Sample" sticker is on Side: Two:!!!!

The Vinyl still retains that Gloosy Look and has clearly been Very Well looked after which is reflected in the playback. There are one or two "Tiny" marks showing on the Vinyl when held up to a bright light (though these have been caused by handling). There are no Pops, Clicks or Jumps anywhere!!!!!!!! I play graded this on a Linn LP12 Sondek through a Linn System (which is very unforgiving). The Playback was "Superb"!!!! The record lays perfectly Flat with no Warping!!!!

Overall the Labels and Vinyl must grade as at least Excellent++!!!!

CONDITION OF SLEEVE:

The Vinyl is housed in it's ORIGINAL "Apple Company" Sleeve which is in overall Good condition!!!! This is a Thinly made and Highly Glossed Laminated Sleeve which has the potential to have a lot go wrong with it!!!! On the Front you can see the Impression from where the record has sat in side (though this is very slight), there are also some very light Creases present (only really noticeable when moved around in light). The Spine has a tiny rub near the record code, but the Title is still Readable. there are also very slight Knocks to the Top and Bottom!!!! The Reverse  is more or less the same as the Front, apart from a crease to the Top Left. There are no Laminate lifts!!!!

 I would grade the Sleeve as Good/Very Good!!!!!

CONDITION OF THE CALANDER:

The Calander is Whole and Complete!!!! There are no Rips, Tears or Writing to be seen!!!! This is a Great litte piece in it's Own right. As stated there are Pictures, Poems and Songs on Every page, and is a Very Nice bit of Beatle History!!!!

I would grade the Calander as Excellent!!!! 

CONDITION OF INNER:

The "White" Inner Sheet is in Excellent Condition!!!!

So here we have a Brilliant, Rare and Original UK John Lennon 1st Pressing of his "Fourth" album with a  "Factory Sample" in "Excellent+" condition!!!!
